Jon and Kate Plus 8.
I tuned into the ridiculously hyped and anticipated Jon & Kate Plus 8 season premiere.
And truth be told.
I wasn’t exactly impressed.
It featured the same old things and of course the same BITCHY Kate and the poor meek Jon. I was actually quite impressed with the millisecond that Jon stood up to Kate when she demanded one of the kids’ piñatas and he refused to cough it up. It was a good start for him anyway, considering she emptied 3 of 4 piñatas for the swarm of children at their Birthday party.
I expected more drama.
Nevertheless, divorce is never a pretty thing. Now there is always the insinuated whispers that hey, this might all be for ratings and publicity. Heck, it sure did get a whole new demographic tuning in, that’s for sure. But, you have to look at it from many different perspectives. Now think about it, roughly the Jon & Kate brood receive $75, 000 per episode and they’ve been on the air for 5 years or so. They have to have been pretty popular enough to stay on the air so long. So is it for ratings? Or is it simply Jon being fed up by the controlling, suffocating and demeaning attitude of money hungry Kate? (Who by the way, agreed to marriage counseling if she was granted two more seasons on TLC.)
Kate is something else.
But, you have to think about it in the terms of the children and what kind of effect this will have on their current lives and their futures. Of course, they would be set financially but how will it affect them emotionally? If it really is for the family business, will Mom and Dad simply say, this was for your futures and it was something that HAD to be done. I guess we won’t know until it all plays itself out.
But, not to condone cheating… I really do feel for Jon and I’ve always felt that since I first started watching the show. It’s pretty shocking he held up for so long living with such a prude, controlling and extremely regimented, drill sergeant wife. I don’t blame him but there are other ways to have gone about it. And I don’t deny that she is a good but authoritative mother, they both do love their kids. Like I’ve always believed, children don’t ask to be brought into this world. So, since we make that decision for them we have to take full responsibility for all that we do that affects them.
Anyway, I might just tune in to see what happens next.
P.S.- I have never seen Kate so vulnerable. Either it’s real or she is a damn good actress.
P.P.S.- Their relationship reminds me of a certain couple I used to know. I just can’t quite put my finger on it. LMFAO.
