The “Breast” Pump on the Market =P. IMO.

Being a parent is a hard job.

Aside from diaper duty to making kids lunches or trying to figure out how to put together the latest doo dad for your little one, like any other job, you have to keep up to date & current.

I’m nursing exclusively with Mimi. But, when needed I have to pump when I have to be away from her for a few hours.

People may laugh but, most mothers know & new mothers will find out that choosing the right breast pump is as essential & as important as picking a house or picking out a car.(Maybe that’s slightly over exaggerated. LOL.)

Why?

Simply because if you don’t find the right one for YOU, that can lead to either the success or failure of breastfeeding for some moms. Either that or you stay home & attached to baby til she is ready to wean.

Kidding!

Now, there are many pumps on the market & it all depends on how much cash you’re willing to fork out. Also, the options you are looking for.

The most recommended from my own friends & colleagues is the Medela Freestyle Double Breast Pump. It goes from about $379.00 & are very popular due to their widespread use in hospital. Other suggestions were the Aveda models.

Now, I’m willing to fork out the cheddar for this but I’d thought I’d give the underdog, The First Years Double Breast MiPump a try before I did.

It ran me $99.00, not bad mind you. It’s actually quite affordable for me & for most. It came with the electrical & battery option. Two bottles, two lids for storage, two shields & a funky contraption that holds the breast attachments. As well as two cooler bags for more storage. It all fits really well in a cute brown & blue bag. It’s small & thin enough to look like a purse, no one would guess it’s a full pump.

Either way it’s very discrete & portable. To get to the meat of my opinion & experience, the suction works very well for me. It takes me the same amount of time as a regular feeding, feels comfortable and frankly, I like it. It suits my BF’ing needs. Since I don’t use it on a DAILY basis this is the pump for me.

The only issue that I found is that if you’re not careful, moisture or goodness forbid, breast milk can make it’s way into the air hoses. If any moisture were to get into the actual pump who knows what will happen.

Regardless, that’s the only issue & my solution is just to remove the hose before I remove the shield from my breast and BAM— problem solved.

So, I’m happy with The First Years Double Breast MiPump. Since every woman is built different, have different needs and different schedules, nursing mothers have many options. There are hospital grade pumps, electrical, battery operated or manual. Double or single. You can purchase or rent.

I found mine & I’m very happy with it and it’s the underdog to the Medela. I’ve implemented it to my lifestyle and I’m satisfied and nursing great.

So, good luck to my new BF mothers out there! What works for me, may not work for you or vice versa!

Either way I recommend it!
