2011Kidz-Meds, VeraTemp Thermometer Review & Giveaway!

Cold and Flu season is upon us!
So make sure you are practicing good hand washing, covering your mouths when you sneeze or cough with into your arm not your hands! Oh and be sure you are increasing your Vitamin C intake.
If all that fails and you can’t avoid the bugs going around or your kids come with it and it spreads, make sure you are well prepared.
The most essential tool to have as a parent is a good thermometer.
It is the tool that will let you know exactly how bad of a fever your child has and if it’s time to take them in to see an ER doctor or to monitor the fever if it lasts a few days, so you have accurate readings to take to your pediatrician after 3 days.
My kids rarely get sick and when they do, I’m often having to call my dad to borrow his thermometer (I know, bad me!) but, I don’t have a good one on hand and when Kidz-Meds offered to send me their No-Contact VeraTemp thermometer, I was more than willing to try it. Not to mention that its absolutely amazing. It not only takes my child’s temperature without having the need to insert in their mouth, ear, armpit or or the dreaded rectal temp, it has multiple uses.
The VeraTemp themometer can measure the temp of my child’s food, bottle even bath water! It stores up to 32 of my latest readings and it can also take the temperature of the room.
It operates with the use of infrared technology which is extremely accurate most times.
Without further adieu, I introduce you to VeraTemp No-Contact Thermometer!

Now, with the climate change the last week or so from mild to freezing and back, my youngest Mimi has been experiencing a bad case of the sniffles, she had low-energy and not much of an appetite, she felt warm then cold but, I wasn’t sure that she had a fever. Enter VeraTemp and luckily I had received it less than a week prior. Just in the nick of time, I opened it and it comes with a purple storage bag and has a battery saving mechanism that will shut off when not in use. It also comes with the batteries included. I love how easy it fits in my hands and how comfortable it feels to use it.
I followed the instructions and boy–is it ever easy to use!
Simply choose the mode you want, whether it is Room, Body or Surface and select whether you want C° or F° and then press down on the scan button. You make sure that the forehead is free of perspiration and that your child’s hair has been swept away and you hold the thermometer about 2-3 inches away. You select the SCAN button and you should have the most accurate reading, VeraTemp is more accurate than rectal, oral and ear thermometers. Long gone are the days where you had to fight your child to take their temperature or worse, give them one of those dreaded temp measurements–you know the ones.
Not to mention, it’s a lot more sterile.
Alas, Mimi was not running a temperature and we took our own temperatures just to test it out. I also took the temperature of the room and of her warm milk and they were all accurate. I’ve been able to monitor her progress and fluctuations simply by hitting the memory button and if I forgot, it was there for me to review. The memory button holds about 32 of your last readings.

I am beyond the moon with this thermometer and I know that I can rest easy and take my children’s temperatures and know that I don’t need to wake them or startle them to do so. I am also very proud to be an owner of this particular innovative 5-in-1 thermometer that can help me measure more than just my child’s temp. It is a very diverse tool and a must-have for all parents, I have to mention it’s pretty cool and I think my husband and I had a bit of fun taking the temperature of lots of liquids and surfaces. Another plus was that it came with batteries included and it was very simple to put them in, no screws–no mumbo jumbo. It was in they went and I started taking measurements immediately.

I can’t believe how far thermometers have come! I remember trying to get temperature readings off of squigly kids (and now my grandkids) so this looks, truly, like a blessing!

I want to win so that it’s easier to take my son’s temperature when he is sick. He always fights the one that goes in his mouth.

I want to try the thermometer because I find it gross that normal thermometers are used when you are sick and inserterd into the mouth… wouldnt that cause a spread of germs? This is a safer, better, healthier alternative.

I have a 3 year old daughter and a 4 month old son. I hate to wake them up to take their temperatures if they are sleeping. I hate rectal thermometers!
