Gus On the Go!

If many of you don’t know, my girls are both Spanish and Asian and since I speak Spanish fluently, the girls have grown up surrounded by my family that speaks Spanish in the home.

My husband doesn’t speak his language fluently but, understands it but, can speak basic Spanish words and phrases.  So, naturally we have always taught the girls Spanish.

Let’s Get Started!

As many of you know, my Mimi is quite the gadget lover and there’s not one tablet or phone app that she can’t master.  When I found out that Gus on The Go is launching their Spanish app for Android TODAY and I had a chance to review it–I was stoked!

The app starts with Gus and he’s in Mexico, each city stop you are learning and teaching your pre-schooler or toddler how to properly speak Spanish and pronounce each word properly. This app is also available in 14 languages and each version of this app uses over 90 vocabulary words.

They Will Learn:
  • animals
  • food
  • transportation
  • clothes
  • numbers
  • colors
  • parts of the body
  • shapes

Interactive and Memory-Producing.

Apart from learning the proper pronunciation of objects that your little ones see everyday, the interactive games and reviews that you unlock by successfully completing each stop on your map, teaches your toddler how to expand their memory muscles.

Most of the games are words associated with images and your child will have to remember the association in order to move onto the next level and to unlock fun new games.

Unlock the Fun!

With each level you unlock, you unlock more games and locations on the map. You can join Gus and fly from city to city with him and even from country to country if you want to learn different languages. You can pop a bubble or balloon or cross the finish line with Gus all while learning a new language.

Learning Together.

Mimi loves the app and she repeats the words and is able to associate the objects to the words that the native speaker asks for. She is able to click through the app independently but, with assistance. As you can see her pictured above, she is loving the app on my phone. I also love that it will keep her busy learning when she needs some stimulation when we are out or in the car for trips.

Like I mentioned, the Android app goes on sale today! You can get the app for $2.99 on the Google Play store! This app gets a 5 star rating from me because it is one of the best language apps that I have used. The graphics are vibrant, cute and bubbly and the fluidity of the game play and balance of learning is a plus.

Gus on the Go on Android is available for $2.99 on the Google Play Store, here.

Gus on the Go is also available for $2.99 on the iTunes store, here.

Do your kids speak a second language, if not–do you want to teach them?

Let me know, til next time–cheers m’deres!
