Comfort Food Sunday Dinner Recipes.
What they call Soul Food…
Yes, that feel good, warm, savory and tasty meal that you reserve for Sunday dinners. Whether you have amazing memories of your childhood, when your Mother would make her home made, crispy and flavorful fried chicken or if your family, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins and all would get together at Grandma’s house to partake in a meal made with love (and maybe Crisco) every Sunday night.
Regardless, we all have meals that make us feel good inside–soul food or comfort food. I know that I do and I’ve collected 25 delicious recipes that you can try for the first time or enjoy all over again.
Garlic Fettuccine Alfredo.
Growing up, my Mom always made a mean pasta. She preferred marinara or blush sauce and would only reserve Alfredo sauce for special occasions. That is why this is one of my comfort foods and I was able to perfect a garlicky Alfredo sauce that you can dress your favorite and perfectly cooked past with. It is now one of our favorite Sunday dinner recipes and if you don’t believe me, you can ask my daughters who call this, “Goodness Pasta.” You can find the recipe in my Foodie collection or here.
Spanish Shredded Beef.
Another one of my favorite meals growing up is a very common dish in my country. My Mom used to make this all the time and I am very grateful that she has taught me so much. She helped me perfect what I consider a fusion between my love for my traditional Spanish roots with an Asian flair. It is a Lime Teriyaki along with traditional Latin spices. The beef is soft, flavorful, tangy and spicy. You serve it with traditional Spanish rice and salad and you are good to go. You can check it out in my Foodie collection and here. This recipe is also found on the Kikkoman USA website.
Comfort Food At It’s Finest.
Now that I have shown you some of my favorite dishes that I make at home, here are some more dishes that I make myself or go out to restaurants to indulge in. You will find the perfect fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy. Don’t forget the biscuits!
Get a little asian with Spicy Sriracha wings or delicious Sunday Dim Sum, yes, it may be usually reserved for breakfast but, you can never go wrong with brinner. You’ll also find Roasted Chicken with the fixins, Fish & Chips, BBQ slathered pork ribs, old-fashioned roast and even good ole meat loaf. Make sure to check out my entire Foodie collection for temptation or a little inspiration.
Don’t forget fluffy cornbread to go with it and to end it sweetly with chocolate bread pudding or banana cream pie.
My idea of Sunday Dinner is food that fills you with happiness, warmth and nostalgia. A recipe that you go to when you need a pick me up or when you’re celebrating. Ones that you will know that there will be no left overs.
What is your perfect comfort food?
Let me know, til then–cheers m’deres!
