Become a Hand Writing Hero!

Did you know that handwriting is critical to a child’s education and emotional development? It should be part of every child’s daily life. It helps them become better readers, boosts their confidence and sparks their creativity.

Writing is a large part of my every day life, I do it every single day. While most of it is digital and using a keyboard, one of my absolute favorite things to do is to journal while on our travels and whenever I am inspired.

It’s a great way to reflect and document emotions that you are feeling at that exact moment. There’s also nothing like the ability to look back on those memories, days, months or even years later. The written word has a way of moving you, no matter how long after it has been written.

Pick Up That Pencil!

When you engage children in different handwriting activities it makes learning fun and helps them get ready for the upcoming school year. BIC has a range of writing tools with fun ink colours and great designs that inspire kids to write more.

Since writing is so beneficial for kids, BIC wants to motivate kids to write more. Every week from August 10 until September 20 you can head over to www.BICFightForYourWrite.ca and participate in BIC’s weekly handwriting challenges.

For every submission, BIC will donate $10 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada with a minimum donation of $5,000 and a maximum donation of up to $10,000 and you’ll be entered into a grand prize draw for a chance to win $5,000 towards your child’s education! Now, that is simply awesome! Take a look at the submissions, here.

To qualify, there is no purchase necessary and is open to Canada only. Plus, make sure that you are age of Majority in your province or territory. This contest ends on 09/20/16. Go to www.bicfightforyourwrite.ca for Official Rules.

What Are Your Goals?

Feeling inspired to join the movement, I created a fun back to school handwriting activity. To motivate the girls to have a successful school year, I had them write down their goals, book list and occupation aspirations for 2016. Gabby chose the BIC Atlantis pen and Mimi was stoked over the BIC striped pencils.

Along with the weekly handwriting activities, this is a fun activity to keep to show them years from now. You can download and print the activity, here.  Make sure you visit BIC on Facebook to try the latest handwriting activities!

Inspire Them!

Kids learn by example, the more they see you write, the more they will want to do it too. While typing can be easier, there’s nothing like putting pen to paper. Nothing! Don’t forget to visit www.bicfightforyourwrite.ca and try out their activities along with your kiddos. Plus, don’t forget to share, it has been fun seeing all the submissions so far!

Let the Writing Begin!

You can pick up bright and colorful BIC stationary in retailers all across Canada. I know one of the best parts of back to school time was shopping for pens, pencils and highlighters. Using them for the first time–it’s awesome! Remember, handwriting matters–cursive, print or caps!

As you can see from the activity above, Gabby has a lot of goals this year since she is transitioning to rotary classes that will help prepare her for high school. Seeing what she wants to be when she grows up this year always puts a smile on my face. Though she’s been wanting to be a doctor for a long time now, it often changes. PR Rep is new this year and since she loves media, it’s not really a surprise. Don’t forget to print this out and see what your kids’ goals and aspirations are!

Make sure to visit www.bicfightforyourwrite.ca for more information and follow them on Facebook for the latest updates!

How often do you write?

Let me know, til then–cheers m’deres!
