Treat Lice Effectively with Resultz!
Back to school season is here and along with the preparation it involves, like shopping for clothes, supplies and getting back into a routine, comes the potential of acquiring head lice during the school year.
August and September and sometimes after winter-break are the busiest months for head lice. Especially back to school time since kids are returning from summer from camps, sleepovers and swimming pools.
If you know me, you know that I am extremely pro-active when it comes to lice and I am all about educating Gabby and Mimi about the transfer of lice. I also make sure to take extra steps to prevent head lice as much as I can.
While head lice prevention isn’t always effective, there are times when it simply doesn’t work and effective removal is absolutely necessary. In order to completely eliminate lice, you need to use the proper treatment, make sure you get rid of the eggs and effectively clean clothes, bedding and toys.
Know the Symptoms!
Sometimes you can unaware that your child has lice. It’s always a good thing to be vigilant and watch for signs that they may have those critters in their hair. I always tell the girls to let me know if they feel different, even if it’s nothing at all.
The most common symptoms are:
- Itchy scalp. Lice bites will cause the scalp, neck, and ears to itch. This may take two to six weeks to occur.
- Scratching. Some people scratch so much that the scalp, and sometimes the back of the neck, become red and irritated.
- Crawling sensation. This can feel like tingling, tickling, or pins and needles.
- Seeing bugs. Head lice are around the size of a poppy-seed and usually gray or tan, but can look darker on people with dark hair.
- Finding lice eggs (nits). Nits resemble grains of sand and are laid near the roots. They are often confused for dandruff.
At the end of the last school year, I received a call from the school that Mimi had nits in her hair. As a precaution, they were sending Gabby home as well. So, I freaked internally and told them I’d be by immediately to pick them up.
Upon inspection, it turned out to be dandruff since both girls use hair spray for fly-aways. But, just to be 100% safe and in case I missed something, I headed to my nearest pharmacy to pick up some treatment for them and heck, for myself too since head lice creep me out. You know you automatically get itchy just thinking about it, right? Bet, you feel itchy now!
The pharmacist recommended Resultz and since it only takes 10 minutes, it was a perfect choice. We went through the motions with the laundry, bedding etc. and called it a day.
If your child has signs and symptoms of head lice and after you’ve inspected their little heads and confirmed their presence, it’s time for treatment. One of the good things about Resultz is that it’s pesticide-free in comparison to other options and it’s pharmacist-approved.
