Our Experience with Hankook Optimo Tires!
One of the most important things to me is making sure my family is safe, no matter where life takes us. When it comes to our family vehicle, ensuring that it is running well, maintained and equipped with proper tires is a must.
Learning about tires this season has been enlightening. Summer time is one of my favourite seasons because we get to spend time going on road trips and having a good time with friends and family.
If you’ve ever wondered which tires work best for you, wonder no more. Here are the reasons why Hankook Optimo tires can improve your car’s overall performance.
What are all-season tires?
I think there is a bit of confusion when we are all used to the term, “all-season” tires. Most people think that all-season tires are the top choice when it comes to tire performance. In fact, the more I researched, I found out that all-season tires are adequate to use in all-seasons and can fare well in all weather conditions in a satisfactory way.
They help you gain some mobility in snow and have adequate year-round performance. While they may offer less grip than summer tires and may sacrifice some steering, braking, and cornering capabilities, you can definitely still use them during the winter.
Another reason most drivers choose them is that it saves the trouble of changing your tires before and after the winter. But, they are not specialized for each season and the elements that go along with it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with all-season tires, in fact, they make the suitable and most comfortable choice for most drivers.
All-season tires have moderate tread depths and their compound make up is designed to have a longer tread life than more specialized tires. With tires sometimes lasting 2 to 3 times longer than other tire options.
I like to refer to all-season tires as a jack of all trades. They are good during every season but, not specialized for a specific season. It’s no surprise why most people make this their top choice for tires!
Why Do You Need Them?
I know you may be thinking, I’m a parent and I don’t drive a sports car, why should I care about performance? For me, it all comes down to safety and having better control of my vehicle. If you can have a tire that is designed to take on the weather conditions you’re in and give you the best responsiveness possible, why not use it? My biggest priority is to protect my precious cargo and knowing that I have tires that are up to that task, I have peace of mind.
Even if I am driving a mid-sized crossover SUV, I am riding comfortably! Since we do a lot of traveling throughout the year which has us going at high speeds, it’s nice to know that our tires can help keep us stable.
If we encounter a sharp turn at a high speed, it will help us grip the road more. Especially when you are exploring the winding country roads up north and find yourself dodging deer. We’ve even taken them onto a beach and we were able to grip and not get stuck. Once winter arrives, I can replace them with winter tires and give my all-season tires a bit more life for next season. But, the beauty of it is that I don’t have to. I can choose to use winter tires or opt to keep my all-season tires on.
You’ll notice that all-season tires will give you a smoother, quieter ride in comparison to summer tires that have a stiffer sidewall. The first thing that Darasak pointed out when he drove the car with the Hankook Optimos was that it felt smooth. I noticed that it’s much quieter. So, if you’re looking for a softer and smoother ride, these are the tires for you.
The Optimo from Hankook
We were able to try the Hankook Optimo H426 tires out on our vehicle and I fell in love right away. Why? Simply because I can feel the difference when I start and stop. I also noticed that on rainy days, my tires would spin and skid and sometimes my ABS would kick-in. We’ve had a lot of rain this summer and I haven’t had that happen to me with my Hankook Optimos.
Not only do they have great reviews on their own, but I was able to try them out myself and I was pleasantly surprised. Here are some of the tire structure features we loved.
- Base tread compound
- Absorbs shock from the road and offers better comfort.
- Two wide steel belts
- Deliver stable steering and cornering.
- High stiffness bead filler
- Offers improved steering response and handling.
As aforementioned, they are able to handle wet and dry traction. Whether it is rainy or sunny, these tires are all in and work phenomenally on the roads. You will also notice quiet driving, a smooth ride, road gripping, and your fuel economy will improve.
One thing is for sure, the Hankook Optimos have performed extremely well for us this summer, in dry and wet conditions. They are designed well, look great and have kept up with us on our various road trips and day trips. So much so, that they feel like specialized performance tires.
We look forward to seeing how they work during fall and winter and have looked into getting Hankook tires for our Dodge Challenger. Especially now that we know that the all-season tires work so well, I can imagine their winter tires do too!
