It’s amazing what time can do for a person, how much it can really change them and how circumstances can really shape and mold a person’s present.
Fall is in the air, the cool breeze has set in and the crispness of the air brings back that nostalgic aroma of all of Autumn’s past. Autumn and Spring are both very memorable to me, the type of memories that you can breathe deep into your lungs when a breeze hits you, close your eyes and you can picture EXACTLY where you were and what you were doing the last time you took a deep breath of those Autumn fallen leaves that caressed the moist ambiance.
Almost all those memories are extremely happy and few are somber but, all have encouraged great growth in me. Not to mention, I carried both my baby girls through this beautiful season, both at 4-months pregnant.
I absolutely adore fall, to me, it commences the beginning of the holidays. Along with the breathtaking and irreplaceable beauty of the tree’s leaves changing from green to brilliant yellows, fiery reds and scorching oranges, my home begins to be filled with the aroma of cookies and muffins baking. I don’t know, something about fall makes me want to bake for my babies… Then again, I am always baking year round!
Hehe, that and going apple-picking, sipping apple cider, going Halloween costume shopping, carving pumpkins, baking pumpkin seeds, fall photo shoots for my girls and yes, even some early Xmas shopping. (While the shopping may freak most of you out, it’s coming m’deres!)
Anyway, so much has changed since my youth. I woke up a few days ago to realize that in a few months, I am going to be 27 years-old. It kind of hit me like a ton of bricks really, mind you I know that it is not OLD, to me it’s the realization that time is definitely not waiting for me. In 3 years I am going to hit the big 3-0 and I’m not really prepared for that considering I don’t feel that age. Nor am I thrilled, yet c’est la vie.
That’s why since my girls were within my womb, I vowed to always fill their lives with great memories that they can treasure for a lifetime. Also, when I awoke to this realization I didn’t tip my head over and ask my husband if I had any grey hairs.
Okay, actually, I did.
Happy to report, I don’t need to dye my hair. Yet.
It’s funny actually, my best friend of over 10 years came over a little while ago, we sat there and laughed at the hijinks we used to get into in our youth, the things we did, the people we “used” to be.
I never really thought I’d be a mom, it kind of just happened. You fall in love, get married and have babies. I will never forget the yearning for children I had as I got older and OLDER. Hehe. I also never thought I’d actually act like a mom either, if that makes any sense. It’s scary how slowly you become your parents. In a good way though.
Anyway, we are now both moms of two, extremely concerned about the environment that our children are living in and will continue to teach the same practices to our children in order to elongate the years that Mother Earth has left. We go out of our way to purchase earth-friendly products and we are meticulous about what we put on the plates of our children.
For me especially, there is a huge problem I have with how food is manufactured in this day and age and the obliviousness that most people live in. It’s completely another post that I will write very soon.
It’s humourous to see how motherhood changes you, how you react differently under old circumstances, how you develop more patience, how you become an expert at selective hearing and how you are able to run on little sleep and function between dance, swimming & soccer lessons, reading books, making lunches and everything in between.
And by golly, is it ever worth it.
(Did I just say ‘by golly’ ?)
Anyway, I have the girls costumes picked out and I always leave it a surprise for my family! They love seeing them all dressed up and ready to go on Halloween. They are going to be matching of course and I’m debating whether or not to dress up along with them like I did last year. Gabriella loved it when Hubby and I dressed up. So, we will see!
What are your plans for Halloween this year? For those with cooler climates, are you happy that fall is here? What does the Autumn breeze remind you of? I’d love to know so drop me a line!
Til then, cheers m’deres!
