Dishing #MOMTRUTHS at Motorcity Casino’s Sound board
Being a mom is a busy job. From getting the kids ready for school, keeping them fed, helping with homework to becoming a full-time chauffeur.
The list is endless but nevertheless, motherhood is fulfilling.
With that said, I look forward to our nights out without the kids. One of our favorite getaways is heading over to MotorCity Casino. It’s close to home, they have a spa, good food, games, and nightlife.
Honestly, we use any excuse to book a night, enjoy a delicious meal at Iridescence or Assembly Line Buffet, and catch a show at Sound Board. Let’s be real though, sometimes just getting through the week is reason enough to book an escape.
Top Notch Entertainment
As I’ve mentioned, they have great entertainment at MotorCity Casino. Especially at Sound Board.
We’ve watched Brian McKnight, Nelly, Boys II Men–and we cannot wait for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, MJ Live (because hello, BIGGEST fan of MJ and Jalles here), and Tower of Power and Family Stone, just to name a few.
Plus, we have attended Detroit Red Wings viewing parties. Umm, free pizza, refreshments, and $1 beer? Plus seeing a Red Wings alumni? Yes, please!
This week, we attended one of the biggest Girls’ Night Out in Detroit. The Cat and Nat #MOMTRUTHSLIVE Show!
They arrived in all their glitter disco ball glory to gab about the ups and downs of motherhood.
The show was hosted in MotorCity’s Sound Board and let me tell you, the venue was energized with a theater full of fierce women and the handful of guys who dared to watch the show. My husband included!
Make It an Experience
The energy was high and there literally is not one bad seat in the house.
Just in case you were wondering.
What makes MotorCity Casino’s Sound Board theater so unique is that it is large enough to accommodate a good crowd but, intimate enough to get up close and personal with the artist or performer.
You can even reserve a VIP experience (breakout room) and have an unforgettable experience. Fully stocked with a delicious catering menu and your very own dedicated bartender. It’s sure to make it a night to remember.
Tell your boss for the next team building activity or special event, you can thank me later.
The Cat and Nat Show itself was entertaining. The ladies did not disappoint with the reality of motherhood. They talked about kids, marriage, and most importantly–community.
So through the scantily clad men, dance party, and wine–the main message was to empower women. To encourage us to support one another because we are all on the same journey when it comes to motherhood.
We are all trying our best and we will get through it. What I loved the most was what they said about mama guilt.
They said to chuck it out the window, only they used much more colorful words than I am using.
The thing is, they are right.
I know I am guilty of feeling guilty but, I know that I can’t pour from an empty cup.
So, that’s why I feel absolutely no guilt when I escape to MotorCity Casino. I need pampering, the delicious food, drinks, and fun.
I think it makes me a better mom in general.
Get to Motorcity Casino
If you’re in the Michigan area (the D, woot, woot!), you really need to get down to MotorCity Casino’s Sound Board. Take a look at some of the upcoming shows and acts that are visiting.
I know that I am really looking forward to Dru Hill with Darasak, Tower of Power and Family Stone with my dad, and MJ LIVE for nobody else but ME.
But believe me, there are comedians, boxing fights, artists and so much more. Take a look at their upcoming shows.
Use it as an excuse to pamper yourself, stay a night, indulge in all the things! I’m due for another stay myself and the best part is I never have to convince Darasak, he loves it as much as I do.

If you know us, we’ve stayed in lots of hotels over the years and it is still by far our top choice. Seriously love their rooms, and that’s just me as a patron, y’all.
It is close to home but, feels a million miles away and that’s why we love it.
How do you make some time for yourself?
Let me know, til then–cheers m’deres!
