Rice Krispies Christmas Tree Lollipops.
It’s that time of year again!

If any of you know me, you know that I absolutely love Christmas! It is my favorite holiday and every year, the Christmas spirit hits around this time. One of the things that I love the most about this holidays is the act of giving.

While Christmas isn’t only about material things, I absolutely love the look on the faces of my kids and loved one when I gift them with exactly what they wanted. I think that every child and person should have this experience at least once during the holidays.

Unfortunately, for many kids across Canada, the holidays are missing a little bit of magic. While other children are joyfully unwrapping toys they have asked for all year-long, they are forced to go without.

This is why for the last three years we’ve taken part in the Treats for Toys program and encourage everyone to do so too!

Treats for Toys!

This year, you and all Canadians can make a huge difference just by making Rice Krispies treats! Kellogg’s Rice Krispies* and The Salvation Army have partnered together again for their third-annual Treats for Toys holiday program.

All you need to do is creating toy-shaped treats and upload a photo of their creations to RiceKrispies.ca. For every picture uploaded before December 21, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army to buy an actual toy for a child in need.

It’s that easy, fun and delicious to turn treats into toys and help make holiday magic happen for ALL kids in our communities.

Tastes good. Does good. Feels good.

In the first two years of the campaign, Canadians helped Kellogg’s Rice Krispies raise more than $60,000 for The Salvation Army to buy toys for children in need. This year, the tasty goodness of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies continues to offer little ways to make a big difference.

Here’s how:

1) First, choose your favourite variety of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal to use as the base and add some snap, crackle and pop to your creation. For a limited time, Holiday Rice Krispies cereal adds a burst of festive colour to your toy-shaped treat; Rice Krispies Original cereal is the classic choice for traditionalists; Rice Krispies with Vanilla Flavour adds a hint of sweetness to the original wholesomeness of rice.

Rice Krispies Multi-Grain Shapes boosts the fun factor with whole grain, funky shapes and no artificial flavours or colours; and Rice Krispies Brown Rice Gluten-Free cereal is made with whole grain brown rice.

2) Create your toy-shaped treat using one of five Kellogg’s Rice Krispies recipes available on treatsfortoys.ca or design your own!

3) Take a picture of your treat and upload the photo to treatsfortoys.ca. You can also share your work of art on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using #TreatsforToys.

4) For every photo received on the website before December 21, 2015, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army to buy a real toy for a child.

Our Creation.

We decided to make Christmas trees, kind of like the little toy figurines we have when we set up our Christmas town. Not only are they festive but, they are portable AND delicious!

It was simple, we dyed the treats green and rolled it out really thin. I used a cookie cutter and then put the lollipop stick in the middle and then sandwiched it in.

I molded the two sides  and then added candy ornaments. They’re a cute treat that you can bring to parties and they are kid-approved! Plus, it’s a great way to give back!

For more information, go to RiceKrispies.ca and add your creations to make sure that every child has a toy this year!

What will you make this year for Treats for Toys?

Let me know, til then–cheers m’deres!
