Looking Back at A Time’s Past and Wishing for Vintage Pieces. #FirstCrush

Wishing for Vintage Pieces.
I must confess I am obsessed with fashion’s past.

There’s something intoxicating about the ‘30s, ‘40s, and the ‘50s fashion era and seeing Greta Garbo, Coco Chanel, Grace Kelly and Barbara Stanwyck’s beautiful dresses and perfectly waved hair. And wasn’t Lucille Ball stunning?

The ‘40s and ‘50s only progressed and became even better. Of course, you can’t forget Marilyn Monroe and do you remember Rita Hayworth’s black satin gown? Oh my goodness, these decades just ooze glamor and class.

The 1950s is an era where I feel I gravitate to. Like a moth to a flame, the styles, the cars, the make-up and hair. Le sigh. It truly makes me wish I could time travel and go back in time to score some of those fashions and learn how to do my hair and make-up like them.

Now this.

This is an item that I am absolutely in love with. I have yet to find one that fits properly or the perfect pattern. The above look is the very thing that pulls me into the fashion of the era. The dark, wavy hair, the ruby lips, the perfectly lined eyes and arched eyebrows. Perfection. I think pairing this with a large brimmed sun hat would be absolutely fabulous, don’t you think?

The Vintage Dress.

While time travel is still not possible, there are many items that I wish I could own. For example, the circle skirt is something that I covet, the way the silhouette flows and how your waist is cinched every so perfectly. Could you imagine spinning in that? It goes hand in hand with the halter dress, I want it in polka dot because, well, why not?

Gorgeous.

I can only imagine how glamorous the women of this era must have felt. I’d walk around like I was on a runway! This is always on my wish list and I am on the search for an authentic and vintage dress. While they do make these now, I want an original. I am in love with both of these styles.

For times like these, searching on  UsedEverywhere.com can be useful. I haven’t had any luck in my area but, I am holding out hope! I did find a vintage dress in Toronto but, I’m not sure if it is an original.

First Crush.

While my search may continue for some time, I have to admit that the era I grew up in has its iconic moments. Whether it’s the big hair, colorful scrunchies, chunky bracelets, leg warmers of the late eighties.

Or the flannel shirts, ripped jeans or that super awesome or simply atrocious 90’s poncho. Oh, you know which one. Depends on what side you are on. You never know, they say one man’s trash is another’s treasure. Maybe YOU are looking for this poncho?

Find What You Search For.

While I still rock my leg warmers and there may be a lot of embarrassing things we wore during our time here on earth, you can’t help but laugh. In the end, it’s what truly makes us unique and what generations ahead of us will look on back. on

However horrible or amazing it was.

If there’s anything that moves you, whether it’s a dress, a car or even an album that was a guilty pleasure, you should get it! You never know what you’ll find if you just look.

Is there any item from a certain era that you would love to own?

Let me know, til then–cheers m’deres!
