Reducing Homestead “Home Dread”: 5 Ways To Be “House Happy”

5 Ways To Be “House Happy”
That notion of being houseproud is something that we are all after. Especially as many people may find themselves having to stay at home a lot more in the coming months due to the cost of everything going up.
So we’ve got to start thinking of ways to achieve that sense of home happiness. What are the things that we can all do to make sure that we do feel “home happy?”
Look at the Exterior
The fact is that the exterior of your home is always going to either make you feel like you are proud of your homestead or fill you with “home dread.”
Now might be the perfect opportunity to start adding little touches to your exterior that will make a big difference in the long run.
While it can be costly to upgrade every aspect of your home’s exterior, your driveway might be one of the best options.
The fact is a new stamped concrete driveway is not just going to make for a smoother-looking surface, but if your driveway is full of holes, this can also have an impact on the car’s tires as those holes wear and tear so you may be spending more money on the overall upkeep.
House Plants
If you want to feel more “house happy,” you need to give it a sense of life. You need fresh flowers and while you may think of this as a big expense, there are some great house plants that you can invest in cheaply which are also ridiculously easy to look after.
If you’re not particularly green-fingered, you can always benefit from a Japanese Peace Lily in the corner of the living room.
It brightens up the space and, of course, there are many benefits to having houseplants!
Candles and Diffusers
If you are trying to feel happier at home, you may want to start going more Danish and add that feeling of Hygge into it.
While the Danish tend to avoid scented candles, if you are looking to feel happier at home, ramping up that cozy factor using candles with citrus scents can be incredibly invigorating.
And if you are looking to unwind at the end of the day, jasmine and lavender are ideal.
Add Some Accents
Painting a room with your favorite color is going to make you feel happier. Just remember there are certain colors that can have an influence on how you feel.
An accent wall of yellow or pink can help us to feel more uplifted and optimistic, which is something we could all benefit from right now in the world.
Add Something That Makes You Smile
You may think that your home needs to be picture-perfect, but when you are trying to make your home look like something from a magazine, this is not going to make you feel happy in the slightest.
Instead, think about that “perfectly imperfect” approach. Something that is a bit wacky easily communicates something warm and welcoming.
