Christmas is right around the corner. If you’ve been making your list and checking it twice, you are bound to have a wide array of items on your kid’s wish list this year. Luckily, you can find the perfect gifts for the child on your list by checking out the Walmart Toy Academy!
I remember the immense excitement I felt when I received a toy that I had been wanting, \especially when it seemed like I’d been waiting for what seemed like ages. So, finding coveted toys underneath the tree is definitely long-awaited and exciting. Now that I am a mom, it makes me so happy to see the excitement and joy wash over the girls’ faces when they find exactly what they wanted under the tree.
Using Toy Academy!
When it comes to what kids are interested in these days, don’t feel bad if you don’t know what the hottest toys are. They change so often! If you know me, I am a huge fan of Walmart when it comes to shopping for fashion, housewares, groceries, and yes, toys! They made my job of sharing the hottest toys this year easier with their new Toy Academy.
The Walmart Toy Academy offers an incredibly easy and fun way to look up what toys your child might like this year. All you have to do is head to Walmart.ca/ToyAcademy, enter your child’s age range, your budget, and the category of gift you’re looking for (you can choose from a wide variety of categories from robots, to plush toys to building toys to trending toys and more). You can find the perfect toys for kids on your budget – and then you can buy it online or in-store. Simple, huh?
Using the Toy Academy, I picked out a couple toys for the girls from the ‘Top Toys Under $20’ list that I knew that they would love. I didn’t let them know that I’d be gifting them early surprise gifts. When they unwrapped them, well, they were stoked!
Some People Are Worth Melting For!
Mimi is still at an age where she loves dolls. I don’t know about you but, the longer my kids want to play with dolls, the better! She is my last baby so, it’s safe to say that the dolls are a gift for the both of us.
The girls love Disney and are still obsessed with Frozen. I’ve come to accept ‘Let it Go’ as a staple song in our household.
Mimi especially loves Elsa and it just so happens that she lost her favourite Disney Frozen Fashion Elsa doll a little while ago and getting her this one made her one happy kid! Elsa comes with removable outfits and is only $14.94!
Take on the Rubik’s!
A toy that never goes out of style is the classic Rubik’s Cube. Gabby has seen it before but has never had her hands on one. So, I thought it would be appropriate to show her the fun she’s been missing out on and her sister too. I know they both will enjoy it. T!
Their uncle is a whiz at solving the Rubik’s Cube but, me? Not so much. It took me a lot longer. So, it’s fun watching them give it a go and I must say, they’re better than me. You can pick it up for $12.93! It also makes for a great stocking stuffer.

If you want to make any child from the ages of 5-8 happy, get them Shopkins Happy Places! You can start off with the Welcome Pack and the love of collecting will spark from there. Your child can create their own Happy Places with the Lil’ Shoppies and Petkins.
Mimi has been collecting Shopkins, Petkins and Happy Places for a while now. She absolutely loved this gift and that made me smile. The gasp she let out was priceless. These toys continue to be incredibly popular and I love that Walmart has such a great selection.

If your kids love building blocks, they’re going to love creating with Mayka Toy Block Tape ($19.97). It transforms any surface into a base for building blocks. It’s compatible with LEGO, Mega Bloks, Kreo and all other leading toy block brands.
