Simple White Bread Recipe
This is a classic white bread recipe, and so simple! There is really nothing like the comfort of a piece of bread.
Whether you’re dipping grilled cheese in tomato soup, enjoying a peanut butter and jelly sammich or stacking a club sandwich–bread is sooo good!
Personally, I love spreading on some homemade hazelnut and enjoying it just like that.
If you’re a bread connoisseur, you’ll love this simple recipe.
Firstly, the great part is that you don’t have to be an expert baker to make this.
Secondly, my brother baked a few loaves and shared his recipe so I can share it with y’all!
Read on for the step-by-step recipe and you’ll be on your way to bread-y goodness in no time.
Things You Will Need:
- 7 cups bread flour
- 3 cups water
- 2 tbsp of yeast (8g packs)
- 3 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 bar of unsalted butter
- mixing bowl
- baking pans
- clean cloth towel
- cooling rack
- brush
- bread knife
*recipe yields 2 loaves (extra loaf shown is because my brother made a mini loaf for Mimi)
Step 1: Combine ingredients
Pour water into a large bowl and add yeast. Mix well and set for 5 minutes. Add flour, salt, and oil to bowl and mix until it becomes a dough.
Place dough onto a clean surface/board and knead for 8 minutes. Cover with a cloth and set for 3 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare dough
Sprinkle a pinch of flour to the top of the dough. Flip over and flatten to about 1″ thick.
Fold edge-to-edge to shape into a ball.
Place dough into bowl smooth side up. Sprinkle a pinch of flour over the dough. Cover with a cloth and set for 1 hour.
Step 3: Cut into Desired Size
Sprinkle a pinch of flour to the top of the dough. Flip onto the board and flatten to about 2″ thick.
Divide into desired pieces to fit your loaf pans.
The recipe produces two standard loaves.
Fold edge-to-edge to shape into two balls.
Sprinkle a pinch of flour over each ball, cover with a cloth and set for 15 minutes.
Step 4: grease pans
Melt butter in microwave. Brush melted butter onto loaf pans.
Step 5: Form your loaves
Lightly cover the board with flour. Flip dough onto the board. Flatten to about 1″ thick.
Fold opposite dough edges onto itself while shaping into a tall triangle.
The bottom / shortest edge of the triangle should be as wide as the length of your loaf pan.
Flatten triangles and roll from the top tips towards the bottom. Pinch the seams closed. Lightly cover all of the roll in flour.
Step 6: Let it Set & Preheat Oven
Place the rolls into buttered pans, cover with a cloth, and set for 1 hour.
Step 7: Place into the Oven
Bake for 35-40 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
Step 8: brush with butter
Remove from the oven and place onto a cooling rack. Brush butter onto tops of loaves to keep them moist.

An incredibly easy white bread recipe. It has very basic ingredients and bakes into the perfect classic white bread. Ready to enjoy with your favourite meat, jam, jelly, hazelnut spread, and more! Don't forget avocado toast or grilled cheese!

Notes
This bread is incredibly easy to make. Whether you are an intermediate or novice baker. It results in a delicious, chewy bread that is crispy on the outside. It will become a family favourite and a great skill to know too. Try some of our homemade hazelnut spread to pair it with.Â
