Celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday in Style!

Canada’s 150th birthday is right around the corner. If you’re looking for ways to celebrate and ring in our beautiful country’s 150th year in style, Sears Canada has you covered.

Whether you’re an entertainer, a beach bum, world traveller or cottager, you’ll find the perfect Canadiana swag that will give you all the patriotic feels.

Being Canadian is something that my family and I are very proud of and grateful for. While we are proud Latinos and my girls half-Asian and Latinas, we are extremely proud to be Canadian. A few of the main reasons are because of the diversity, acceptance and overall Canadian kindness. It really does exist and most of us Canadians are happy to have that preconception. Even though we say ‘eh’ a little too much and say sorry for everything, one thing we know how to do is party!

When we do, we aren’t shy about showing off our Canadian pride and while we come in many walks of life, one thing that we all share is love for a country that provides us with freedom, love and peace. To celebrate this amazing and beautiful country’s milestone, I’ve compiled everything that you will need to celebrate Canada’s 150thbirthday in style!

Let's Get Started!

The Ultimate Chillaxer.

This one is for the ultimate Canadian power couple who are ready to chillax this long weekend. Nothing but comfy clothes, cold drinks and delicious food off the barbeque. Not to mention, a little competitive game of frisbee with the kids may be involved.

You’ll be prepared for the sun with the hats and shades and ready to take a dip in the pool too. One thing is for sure though, you won’t have a shortage of cold drinks. Just sit down in your Muskoka chair, drink in hand and say, “Oh, Canada!” If you want to get your hands on all of this Canadian swag, check out my list, here.

The Beach Bum.

If you’re heading off to your nearest beach, you’re going to need to be prepared. You’ll need cool t-shirts, hats, shades, water bottles, towels and a tote bag to put all of them in. Don’t forget a foldable chair to sit and watch fireworks. Make sure to pack enough ice in your Canada 150 cooler and bring the frisbee! You’re going to need hydration! If you’re planning to have a picnic, you’ll need a festive picnic blanket.

The Cottager.

There’s simply nothing like spending a weekend at the cottage. You know that you will come back home with so many memories that will last a lifetime. If you’re headed to a cottage for this Canada 150, you’ll need ice buckets for all those drinks!

Don’t forget a water bottle to stay hydrated and hats and shades for sun protection. If it gets chilly at night, snuggle up with super Canadian hoodies and a warm cup of joe or hot chocolate. Of course, don’t forget your Muskoka chair. It’s Canadian tradition!

The Ultimate Entertainer.

Some of us can’t help it, we live to entertain. That means we rejoice at the chance of celebrating a holiday and this is our beautiful country’s biggest one yet! Of course, you’ll need new fabulously Canadian oven mitts and an apron.

Don’t forget maple leaf appy trays, napkins and coasters. Serve Canadian beer in a Canadian beer mug or do shots in Canada 150 shot glasses. Make sure your guests know it’s a Canadian affair before they even step into the house with the Canadian doormat. It’s adorable, eh?

The World Traveller.

You can’t help that you got bit by the wanderlust bug years ago, right? But, whatever corner of this whole wide world you find yourself in or are heading to, bring a little Canada with you. Whether it’s a new Canada 150 luggage, tote bag, luggage tag or key chain. It’s easy to show off your Canadian pride with these!

The Canuck Kid.

You simply cannot forget the kids in your life! They love to celebrate and decking them out in Canadian gear is the perfect way to pay homage to our country. They’ll love the Canadian wagon and the stuffed moose. There are also lunch boxes that they can use during summer camp and into the next school year. There’s even little rompers for the little itty bitty ones. I know we are picking up those bucket hats!
