Delta by Marriott is Expanding!

If you’re Canadian, you more than likely have heard about or even stayed in a Delta property. It’s a brand that you know and trust. Delta Hotel and Resorts in partnership with JHM Hotels had a grand opening of their first US property in Lake Buena Vista in Orlando.

It is located on 12490 South Apopka Vineland Road and is just around the corner from the popular Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney) and is the closest non-Disney hotel to the Walt Disney World Resort®.

Marriott has been doing business in Canada for decades with about 8 brands and 125 hotels operating currently. By acquiring Delta properties, it is allowing for more Canadian presence and distribution that leads to eventually growing globally. This year alone, there are about 80 hotels in the pipeline that are in the works for the US. Within the next few years, there may be over 100 hotels in the US. Thinking globally, there is a pipeline for Delta Hotels of about a dozen in Asia, 3 in Shanghai in the works right now.

There are many Canadian and US owners that are interested in expanding Delta properties within Canada. In Thunder Bay, there will be a new Delta right on the water with 160 rooms that will be fabulous. 

On or Off-Site?

When you think of Florida, the odds that you think of a certain mouse right away are expected. Maybe you dream of seeing dolphins or whales or zipping away to a wizarding world of your imagination. Whatever it may be, there is no doubt that Orlando is one of the top destinations Canucks visit. We make up the one of the largest feeder markets for Florida. It is actually why DJ Rama of JHM Hotels and partners wanted to open their first global location Orlando.

With a family, we have experienced both and that’s why we are excited that a hotel we’ve known and loved has opened in Lake Buena Vista. One thing that we as a family look for is that the property is clean, has fast Wi-Fi, a good pool and hot tub. The rooms have to be accommodating for our whole family to rest comfortably and one thing is for sure, the room needs to have plenty of outlets to charge our devices. You’ll find a nifty alarm clock that has been stripped of a radio and an easy dial alarm clock that is set with a touch of a button. What’s better? Lots of room for outlets on the device to charge your electronics.

You’ll also find Babyliss Pro hair dryers in every room. That means you can leave your hair dryer at home and make room for another pair of shoes in your luggage! The Babyliss is a quality hair dryer but, it is the fact that it saves time and gets your day going faster. 

Having a place to be able to work while away is a benefit as well. The completely renovated hotel comes equipped with a Peet’s Coffee where you can get coffees, iced coffees, teas, snacks and much more. You can also purchase breakfast, lunch and dinner. D-Flats is where you can enjoy craft beers on tap, phenomenal flat breads and delicious meals. The Community Table is where you can enjoy a savory breakfast in a more of a sit-down atmosphere.

There are other options that are nearby that you can walk to like Sweet Tomatoes, Perkins, Bahama Breeze, Buffalo Wild Wings and more.

Time to Play!

While the parks are fun, sometimes you just want down time. The Kids Room is stocked to the nines with fun things to keep kids busy. The colorful couches are the perfect place to lounge and play video games on the large flat screens. There is a foosball table and plenty of room to sit down and make crafts. The room features PlayStation 4, Wii U and board games.

It is actually one of the nicest kids’ game rooms that I’ve seen and I know that my kids would absolutely love it. It’s a great place to wind down. 

Peace of Mind.

A vast majority of business travellers bring their work out gear but, only 20% actually work-out. The Delta Lake Buena Vista has a 24/7 gym room that will make you weak at the knees. It outlooks the pool area and has gorgeous natural light. Cahill said, “It’s a peace of mind, it’s knowing that you can and it’s there.” Being open 24 hours, 7 days a week, you can stay on your routine wherever you go. The room is equipped with towels, fresh fruit, cardiovascular machines, yoga balls and free weights.

Pool Time!

There is no shortage of fun to be had at the Delta Lake Buena Vista hotel. It has resort-style pools with gorgeous cabanas and a splash pad with a Pirate Ship that is set to open soon. There are plenty of chaises to bathe in the Floridian sun with a delicious drink in hand. If you want a break from the pool, there’s a large hot tub for you to enjoy. 

Cahill knows that travelers need 3 things when traveling. Water, power and bandwidth. A New Look.

Along with introducing Delta’s first property in the US, a newly designed logo was revealed. Paul Cahill, Global Brand Leader Delta Hotels & Resorts, went back 62 years to find inspiration. He also searched for what has always been great about Delta for the new logo. You’ll see the evolution of the D in the Delta; you’ll notice a cut-out to indicate a sense of movement. A new dimension to the logo is the addition of Marriott. It is simply to say to the 53 million existing loyal customers that Delta is now a part of the family and you can expect the same standard of quality.
