How to Host the Perfect Family BBQ

It might be wintertime and the weather might be cold and rainy, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start prepping for a summer full of family BBQs.

Of course, BBQs are just for summer. You can enjoy a cozy winter BBQ with your loved ones. You might just need to get an outdoor heater to keep everyone warm!

Preparing your home in time for the summer is key to making the most of the sunny weather. You don’t want to be left scrambling to organize your event when the sun decides to come out.

Inviting your friends and family around for a day full of delicious food, amazing drinks, and great company is one of the best things to do no matter what month of the year it is.

You get to spend quality time with your loved ones and have a good catch-up with them.

If you’re already thinking about your next BBQ event, here are some top tips on how you can start preparing for it.

Think About the Furniture

Even if you’re only inviting a small group of friends around for your BBQ, you’ll need to make everybody has a place to sit.

You want all of your guests to feel as relaxed as possible so it’s important to have adequate seating.

Get a large outdoor table and chair set alongside some extra chairs so that everybody has a seat.

You don’t want anybody to have to awkwardly stand up while everybody else has got their feet up!

Consider your table space too. If you’re doing a buffet-style BBQ, you’re going to need room to put every dish down so your guests can help themselves.

Decorate Your Outdoor Space

Even though BBQs are centered around great food and drink, that doesn’t mean you can’t make a whole event out of it.

Why not take the chance to fully decorate your garden in time for your BBQ?

You can get a variety of garden sculptures or garden art to place in your outdoor space. Or hang up some cute fairy lights or colorful lanterns.

Flowers are also a great way to decorate your garden. If you’re planning a BBQ well in advance, plant some seeds and create a beautiful bed of colorful flowers just in time for your event.

This is going to make your garden look cozy and welcoming to all of your guests.

Take Food Preferences and Diets into Consideration

If some of your friends or family members follow a specific diet, be sure to ask them what kinds of foods they’d like at the BBQ.

They might be vegetarian, vegan, keto, or paleo. All of these diets have unique dietary requirements, and you might need to get specific foods or drinks for these guests.

Although your guests might prefer to bring their own food, it’s always nice to ask them what they’d like you to buy for the BBQ.

It’s never been easier to find free-from products.

They’re in almost every grocery store nowadays. So you’ll be able to find a variety of delicious foods for your guests to enjoy.

If some of your guests don’t drink alcohol or if there are going to be children at the event, make sure to get some alcohol-free beverages for everybody to drink throughout the day.

Some popular drinks that are suitable for BBQ days include sodas and fruit juice.

Light Up Your Garden

It can get dark outside, especially if you’re hosting your BBQ during the winter months. Hang some lanterns or string lights around the garden.

You can even get some solar-powered lights to place along the floor to illuminate your outdoor space. This way, you can host a great BBQ, regardless of how light it is outside.

Often, having a BBQ on a dark evening with your garden illuminated only by some cute fairy lights is extra cozy and relaxing!

Even better, using LED light bulbs will provide a brighter light while saving you money on your energy bills.

Think About Your Entertainment

BBQs don’t always need additional entertainment. Simply chatting to your friends and family is enough of a reason to enjoy the day.

But you might want to spice things up and plan out some extra entertainment for your event.
