How To Make the Perfect Smoothie

How to Make the Perfect Smoothie

I don’t think I have ever met anyone who doesn’t like a smoothie. It’s versatile and can be made in a wide array of flavors that is sure to please any palate. There’s just something about enjoying a thick, creamy and flavorful smoothie and knowing you are packing a nutritional punch when you make it with fruits, protein, and more!

1. Pick Your Poison

Not really, more like choose the delicious base for your smoothie. You can choose Milk, Almond Milk, Coconut Milk, or one of our favorites, Soy Milk. I recommend using Silk’s Almond Coconut blend that is perfect to give your smoothies a tropical taste.

These bases will give you the traditional creamy smoothies but, if you’re trying to achieve a different taste, you can use coffee, tea, or fruit juices as a base.

2. Ice, Ice, Baby

To get a thick and delicious smoothie, you have to use frozen fruit. The more you use, the less ice you will have to add to your smoothie.

Another way to thicken up your smoothie is to add a banana, it’s a universal and neutral taste and it definitely will give you the thickness you crave.

You can also add oats to your smoothie and it will help keep you fuller longer and give you the fiber you need. Also, after you’ve done these natural ways or you have more fresh fruit than frozen fruit, add 4-5 cubes of ice to your smoothies.

3. Pack a Punch with Super Foods

Of nutritional value that is! Smoothies are a great way that I get all of the “extras” into my kids and for myself too. You can add protein powders, chia seeds, chlorella or Spirulina, flax seeds, vitamin powders, and depending on the smoothie, one of my favorites–peanut butter.

4. Don’t Skip the Veggies

If you or your kids aren’t big veggie eaters, this is a perfect way to get your veggies in. Spinach, kale and celery are among my favorites for smoothies and they mix well with fruits.

That way, you can have a sweet smoothie with all the benefits of both fruits and veggies. Oh and SHH, you don’t have to tell them.

5. Use a High-End Blender

This is a given, the better the blender is the more you will get out of it. It is an investment but, in the long run, it ends up paying for itself. They are also highly versatile and can be used for more than just making your PERFECT smoothies. Check out my Insta for some fun pictures!
