Getting Inspired with @SearsCA’s Hottest Toy Shop and Reminiscing On Holidays Past! #SearsMom

The Holidays Are Upon Us.

Christmas is definitely my favorite time of year, in fact, it’s my favorite holiday of all time. There’s nothing like a white Christmas, singing Christmas carols, going tobogganing or baking cookies.

But, there’s truly something special when you give someone a gift that they absolutely love and the sheer joy resonates and fills the room. That look on your loved one’s face is something that is truly priceless and what the season is all about.

One of our most fondest Christmases was when our second little angel joined us to celebrate. Gabby was an only child for a long time and when we decided to have another little angel, it was truly a blessing to be a family of four. Pictured above, you will see my eldest’s excitement of being a big sister.

We had gone to Frankenmuth (a German Christmas town in Michigan), as we do every year. Gabby picked out her ornament for the year and she decided on one that said, “Sisters Make the Best Friends.” It was truly a moment of happiness and joy for me and I’m so happy I was able to capture it!

Making Memories.

Another one of our yearly traditions is making a gingerbread house. It’s something that we love doing together, I usually do a very small part since I’m not really gifted in that sense. But, Gabby and Dara have had lots of practice together and make a great team. This year is the first year that Mimi is looking forward to decorating it and remembers our tradition.

Wonder and Awe.

This was Mimi’s first Christmas and we thought it appropriate bringing her to a Christmas Town to expose her to the magic of Christmas. We stepped into a huge store full of holiday decorations, beautifully lit trees, tinkering toys and enormous displays. As you can see, the true and utter wonder is in her eyes.

The Gift of Gift Giving.

Throughout the years, there’s been quite a few reactions to gifts. I guess as parents, we have to be on the ball and know what our kids like and what they need. Last year, Gabby sat silent, mouth ajar and staring for over a minute until she completely flipped out over her new iPod 4S.

Then there was that year where we told her to close her eyes and right in front of her appeared a brand new bike, helmet and a bell that she had wanted. She literally FELL flat, full body and then jumped up in excitement.

In the pictures above, is Mimi’s first Christmas. She is digging into her gift bag in pure curiosity and not so sure on what she’d find. Gabby was gaga over her favorite show back then and getting PJ’s of it. Then you can see her pure and utter delight when she sees Nintendo DS accessories, which meant–there was a Nintendo DS somewhere and it was PINK!

Priceless.

It’s moments like that that make the holiday rush so worthwhile. But, there’s really a science behind finding the PERFECT toys for YOUR child. You have to do your research, scope out the hottest toys and plan ahead. This is where Sears Toy Shop proves to be the best tool to doing just that.

I went through the entire list and found some that I think are truly awesome and that I would love to place under the tree. I also let the girls take a look after and had them pick a few things for their wishlist.

  2. Great pictures! My kids liked to go through the Sears Wish book and make christmas lists. I am sure there will be lots of electronics on their list this year!

  3. Great post! Love the photos – kids totally make Christmas in my opinion. Reliving our youth in their excitement is really what it is all about!

Ps – I've been to the Christmas store in Frankenmuth – unlike anything else!!!

  4. This makes me so excited for Christmas. Can't wait to set up the tree! Thanks for the heads up on the contest too!

  5. Great photos of your beautiful family Nancy 🙂 I am a bit challenged this year when it comes to shopping for the kids, my son mostly. This is the first year where he is making real choices, but many are not age appropriate. (Lego for his little four year old hands means tears when he can't put them together) My older daughter is all about the electronics so it is a sad good bye to Barbies 🙁 However Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and I know it will be amazing <3

  6. I love holiday traditions and memories. Some of my fondest childhood memories are decorating the tree as a family! Drinking hot chocolate, christmas carols playing and just being together. Every year when I look at my moms tree I think about the ornaments and remember all the times I have hung them before! As for Christmas wish lists, beyblades and rescue bots top the lists!

  7. Your little ones are so adorable! I love Christmas and watching my kids opening their gifts.

As kids we were always to excited to go through the Sears Wishbook and make a list of toys we wanted to see under the tree. Now, my kids devour that book (and it gets pretty much ripped to shreds because of the heavy wear and tear).

My oldest loves all things electronic and is wishing for an iPod Touch for Christmas. My youngest loves toys, especially trains and cars. So, we will have to see what the jolly ol' man in red decides to bring them!

  8. You have such a beautiful family. This is my favourite time of year as well. I love the everything about this season!

  9. Your photos are so heartwarming! You captured such great family moments, and your girls seem thrilled about your toy choices.
