Target REDcard.
Do you have one yet?

Well, you may have read all about my Target shopping experience and how I made my house a home with the help of Target. That alone is proof that I have an undying love for all that is Target. On top of having amazing home decor, they have the latest electronics, the trendiest clothes and shoes and you can even get groceries too! Not to mention all the essentials you need in life!

Needless to say, we go to Target often. That may be an understatement but, while I am always on the hunt for a good bargain, I never pass up a chance to save and save all the time.

That’s money in your pocket, baby.

That’s right, with a Target Debit Card or Target RBC MasterCard, you are able to save 5% every time. I pay with my debit card or credit card all the time. In fact, I don’t remember the last time that I carried cash. When I shop at Target, I almost always pay with my debit card. For me, it made more sense to apply for a Target Debit Card.

It was incredibly easy, it only took me about 5 minutes to fill out the online application, all I needed to add was my personal info, answer a few security questions and bank info right from my personal cheques. I did not need to open a new account, just use my existing account. After that, it took about 7 days to arrive. If you’re not convinced, you may have some of the worries I had when I was offered the program at the check-out line. All which didn’t turn out to be the case and was the opposite of what I thought.

A Few Myths:
  • I thought it is a credit card only program and seeing that I use my current credit card to rack up travel points, I did not want another credit card.
  • I thought that the debit card would require me to create a new bank account at RBC, especially when I see the logo of a bank on the card.
  • I thought that I’d have to open a new Target bank account to get the RedCard, which I didn’t want to do.

Savings That Add Up.

I’m kinda kicking myself for not getting  a REDcard sooner because really, that is a lot of money that I could have saved. Now that I know how easy it was to get a card, I can’t wait to start flashing my REDcard and save every single time that I cash out.

I’m happy with my debit card choice but, if you choose to go with the Target RBC MasterCard you will pay no annual fee. You get you 5% off every Target purchase, as long as you’re using the Target MasterCard as your form of payment. It also provides .5% cash rewards on all purchases (outside of Target) as well as purchase security and extended warranty insurance.

TIP: If you sign up now and before November 10th, you will get an additional one-time saving of 5%, so for one purchase, you’ll get 10% off instantly.
If it meant saving 5% off your bill every time, would you sign up for a REDcard?

Let me know, til then–cheers m’deres!
