The All-New Lincoln Continental Has Returned: Elegant, Powerful and Quiet Luxury at Its Finest.

Lincoln Motor Company announced yesterday that their flagship vehicle has returned. The 2017 Lincoln Continental. As always, Lincoln has luxury in mind and this new full-sized sedan is sure to please progressive consumers who simply crave it.

Meaningful Progress and Significant Momentum.

Lincoln promised that their journey would be one of steady progress and they have delivered. But first, let’s talk growth. Lincoln has been busy and they have grown their global sales by 17% and expanded in China.

They became the first brand in China to surpass 10, 000 unit sales in its first full year of operation. A threshold that took other leading car manufacturers over 5 years to achieve.

They opened 33 dealers by the end of last year which exceeded the 25 they had originally planned. By the end of 2016, they hope to have 60 dealerships up and running.

The Year of Quiet Luxury.

The Lincoln Continental is definitely a household name and a name that I’m sure if you love vehicles, you know and love. It is synonymous with the best of Lincoln. As I was growing up, I would remember my jaw drop and I would stare in awe at the new Continentals of the time. To me, it was the epitome of luxury and even then–they were grand.

Now, the new 2017 Lincoln Continental has been designed and inspired with the new era of first class travel in mind. Elegance, effortless power and serenity. I don’t know about you but, I’ll take it!

Human Experience.

Kumar Galhotra, Lincoln Motor Company President, presented the Continental to the world and marked an important milestone for Lincoln. He states that it embodies everything that Lincoln stands for–performance and quiet luxury. Galhotra also says that warm human and personalized experience is found in all of their vehicles and services. 

He says, that quiet luxury begins even before you approach the vehicle. You can start, stop, lock or unlock the car from wherever you are through the mobile app. It will greet you a warm embrace! When you open the door, your seat cushion deflates making it easier to get in. The door closes behind you softly. Once inside, the Continental will set the mood with warm lighting and with a touch of a button, the car will turn on. 

Step Inside.

The inside of the Lincoln Continental is beautiful. As soon as you step inside, you will notice and smell the feel of the leather seats and the natural wood finish gives it that extra air of luxury. Galhorta exclaims that once you feel the sun shining through the large sunroof, you will be in your very own private sanctuary. I would have to agree with him because the inside of the 2017 Continental is decadent.

He compared the adjustment of your driver’s seat with Lincoln’s perfect position seat, as how you would tailor a fine suit. He explained that everyone places their right leg differently while driving, with the perfect position seat, you can adjust the independent thigh extension and each leg is perfectly supported.

Are you a techie? Well, with SYNC 3, you will be able to connect the content on your smart phone and display it on the Lincoln screen. Apple Car Play and Android Auto will help you sync your tunes and navigation.

Music is absolutely essential when I’m driving and I know that I am not alone. Galhorta said that with the Rebel sound system, you will have your own private amphitheatre. It has 3 listening modes and tech that enhances the quality of your digital music. 

Quiet Luxury Extended.

With the Lincoln Continental, now the perks aren’t just for the driver. Your friends and family in the back seats will enjoy the rear seats that recline, heat, cool and offer massages! How incredible is that? Your passengers have their own controls for audio, climate and rear sunshade. I don’t know what would be more relaxing, driving or being a passenger!

Performance and Power.

When I take a look at cars, I look to see how smart it is and how well it performs. The Continental accelerates confidently with the help of the 400 HP and 3.0 litre, twin-turbo engine.

Inevitably, apart from smooth sailing, you will hit traffic in your day-to-day life. The adaptive cruise control helps you to maintain a safe distance and anticipates the stop and go traffic for you. Auto-hold helps you to hold your breaks for you and the lane-keeping system makes sure that you stay in your lane by alerting you if you begin to drift.

Pre-collisons assist with pedestrian detection will warn you to avoid collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians. It will also stop the vehicle if you don’t react in time.

Parking is now child’s play and easier than ever. The 360 degree camera gives you a 7 ft. view all around the vehicle. The enhanced park assist can help you park parallel and perpendicularly.

Elegance. Effortlessly Powerful and Serene.

Seeing the Lincoln Continental after it was unveiled was incredible. It is a gorgeous sedan and with all the bells and whistles that it boasts, I can see it doing very well with people of all ages and generations.

You can learn all about the new 2017 Lincoln Continental on their site. Being a border city girl, I’m so happy to hear that the Lincoln Continental will be produced in the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan. It will go on sale this fall. 

The New 2017 Lincoln MKZ.

Also on display is the new Lincoln MKZ. It isn’t only nice to look at but, it performs as well. It has a Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter GTDI V6 engine and is available in a hybrid and 4-cylinder 2.0-liter GTDI engine marking 245-horsepower.

There are options, that’s for sure. With electric power-assisted steering, it makes the handling something to envy. The MKZ will hit the market this summer. 

One thing is for sure, Lincoln has delivered on the cars that they promised. I especially love the addition of the Lincoln Continental not only for what it offers, the way it looks and the nostalgia. While it looks different from its predecessor, it is still pretty wicked.
