Celebrate Baby Days!

Life’s Greatest Blessings.

There is something perfect that is absolutely, undeniably and without question about babies. You plan for their existence, then for their arrival and after 9 long months (sometimes more) that precious little baby enters the world and changes your life as you know it.

I’ve always had the mentality that you get what you pay for and when it comes to your children, only the best will do. After all, a good stroller, a sturdy high chair or that reliable baby monitor pays for itself after the use you get out of them.

Plus, you know that you can trust that they’ll do their job.

I’ve been a mother for almost 10 years now, in fact, in 3 months–it’ll be an entire decade. Seeing my girls together just melts my heart and I’m so happy that they have one another.

Becoming a mother is by far the best gift that I have ever been blessed with and although I have an almost 10-year-old daughter, I can still remember every baby stage as if it were yesterday.

The Calm Baby.

Gabby was my “easy baby” and every stage and milestone she reached she surpassed with flying colors. Every stage was simply joyous and a pleasure to witness because she did it so seamlessly.

I’m not kidding when I tell you that this little one began sleeping through the night at 2 weeks, nursing naturally, fully potty-trained at 18 months and walking at 9 months. Seeing our little Peanut standing up and walking alongside anything she could get her hands on at that age was remarkable and a bit unnerving because she was so teeny.

They are all so different and it’s a good thing.

Being blessed to be her Mom, I can’t just pick one stage where I can say is my favorite because each stage has brought such happiness and joy.

One thing I will say though is that I have enjoyed watching her grow intellectually and I have to say age 3 is my favorite. It was a time when her language developed, where I held on to each and every word she said in her own way but, where she started pronouncing them properly. This is also when she developed her artistic side and began drawing, singing and taking a liking to her guitar.

Gabby will be reaching double digits soon and though that is heart-wrenching, I am very proud of who she has become. She is a young lady that is intelligent, witty, sometimes sarcastic like her Mama, athletic, artistic and musically inclined. She makes me so very proud.

The Energetic Baby.

I guess that in life, you need balance and life felt it fit to provide me with it. Since Gabby was such a calm and easy baby, Mimi has proven to be a much more curious and energetic child. Ever since she was born, she was into everything and always has to be doing something.

As a newborn, she proved how curious she was of the world that surrounded her by showing us how strong her neck muscles were at the age of 3 days. She was able to keep her head up and liked laying on her tummy and looking up. That just blew us away.

Ever since then, it’s been a wild ride!

At her current age of 3, she is very energetic, ever curious and has the imagination that transcends many worlds, galaxies, and dimensions. It is a joy to see her sing, dance and play on her own. She is very content taking part in solitaire play as her imagination soars and lets her enter the world she creates.

Every single day she has learned a new word or new phrase, she is witty and funny and truly puts a smile on my face. She also makes the best facial expressions. As she grows every day, I look back on the quiet and special moments we shared. She was my breastfeeding buddy after all.

Yeah, babies are awesome.

Why?

Well, because they become their own persons and develop their own individuality. They truly enrich your life. Both my girls were born with eyes wide open (literally), prepared for the world that so anxiously awaited them and they haven’t stopped growing and learning and teaching me new things every day.

I thank my lucky stars to watch both of them grow before my eyes every day. Even though I can’t physically have any more babies, I still hope for the day that I might have another little baby. Every time I visit Sears and their Baby Room and walk by the tiny clothes, the furniture, gadgets, and equipment that gets cooler every year–I reminisce.

  1. I love the age 3-5 when everything is new and they can express their personalities best. Fear, excitement and love. It is a fun stage!

  2. Beautiful photos of your babies Nancy, just sweet 🙂 I recall those days fondly, but my two are past the baby stage now ( although my son says he wants to be one again, LOL). We used Sears a lot for our baby gear so it is nice to know things have not changed..
