Watermelon Orange Grapefruit MOMosas

Celebrating Motherhood with SodaStream.

And I feel empowered.

Motherhood is a gift, plain and simple, it is. Through my experiences, I have learned to appreciate the journey deeply and immensely and I thank God for this blessing. I really, really do. But, I am grateful for it because I am a Mom to two amazing girls that light up my life. Pictured above is Gabby and I and Mimi in my tummy.

With that said, motherhood is not easy. It’s a whole lot of sacrifice, tears of both joy and sadness, late nights, piles of laundry, thousands of meals, tender hugs and kisses, mending broken hearts and there’s never enough time in the day.

Especially for ourselves.

I truly believe that in order to properly take care of others, we have to take proper care of ourselves. For me, as vain as it may sound, I feel empowered when I am able to spend a little extra time doing my hair and putting on some makeup. Pictures we share tend to only illustrate what we propose to. While it is true to form, it is often deceiving. I definitely do not have perfect hair or makeup every day.

But, when I get a chance to, I love it. I feel confident and have a little extra oomph. Don’t get me wrong, I am just as confident in my yoga pants sans le makeup and in a messy bun. But, as a confidence builder, it isn’t necessary to me. Rather, I feel empowered with the feeling that I took a little time out of my day–for ME.

Another thing that I do love to do is wake up early to a quiet house, sip a fresh cup of joe from my Keurig and me, alone with my thoughts. I think it is absolutely essential to have a chance to reboot your brain and to collect your thoughts before you start your day. It helps me to tackle the day’s tasks with a healthy mind.

A Loving Mother.

I praise my Mom who raised three very energetic and very different kids. She did it with love and tested patience. But, she did it. My Mom has taught me so much and while our mothering is different, I still find myself saying or doing things she did.

I am thankful and blessed she taught me to love unconditionally, how to nurture, instilled my morals and virtues and so much more. My sister is not yet a mother but, along with our MOM, she has been an active force in helping me to raise my girls from the very beginning. She is beyond just an amazing Sister and Aunt. She is an incredible caregiver. Not only did she show that same love to me as we grew up but, she’s like a second Mom to my girls.

No matter what role you play in a child’s life, it really takes a village. That is why I think we all deserve to be celebrated on Mother’s Day. Whether you are a Mom, Aunt, Grandma or if you’re a Dad who plays both roles. In honor of my Mom, Sister and mothers everywhere, I toast to you!

MOMosa Anyone?

Yes, virgin, please! I prefer it that way but, you can always add a little something to this drink that I created with my SodaStream Source. It’s a Watermelon Orange Grapefruit MOMosa with a spritz of Cucumber. It’s super easy and fortified with Vitamin C, it’s sure to give you a much-needed boost while you put up your feet this Mother’s Day!

Things You Will Need:
  • 1/4 of a cap of SodaStream Orange Grapefruit Sport.
  • Small Watermelon or 1/4 of Large. (Depends on desired serving size.)
  • 1/2 of large Cucumber, peeled.
  • Food Processor or Blender.
  • Stevia.
  • Martini or Your Choice Cocktail Glasses.
  • Watermelon and Cucumber to garnish.
  • Plate.
  • Knife.

Smashed watermelon in a small bowl.

Puree It.

Cube watermelon and remove seeds. That’s up to your preference though, I don’t mind the white seeds. But, if you don’t, remove them. Peel and cut 1/2 of a large cucumber. Next, use your favorite food processor or blender and puree both until smooth. You are in for a refreshing treat!

Frost It!

Use a piece of watermelon to moisten the edge of your glass and frost your glass with the stevia. Use the flat plate with your sugar and flip your glass upside down and rotate until the whole glass is evenly coated. Place glasses in the fridge to set the frosting and to chill your drink once you are ready to serve. Once ready, add the puree to the glass. Use as much or as little as you want.

Say It–Bubbles MY Way!

Make your Orange Grapefruit Sports SodaStream. I made it with Medium fizziness, just enough to give you that sparkling bubbly you want but, not too much that it overwhelmed. This drink is meant to be refreshing, sparkling and light!

Pour the Bubbly.

Add your Orange Grapefruit Sport to your fruit puree. At this point, you can choose to make it virgin or you can give it a little bit of a spike if you’re feeling frisky! I opted for a virgin drink but, it would taste just as great if you decide to add a little something, something!

Time to garnish! I added a slice of cucumber and a wedge of watermelon if you’re like me–you love a good garnish that you can munch on after. Nothing more refreshing than cool cucumber and delicious watermelon. Even if it’s just a bite! The stevia frosting put it’s over the top and every sip is tart, bubbly and sweet!
