Naturally, I wanted to give you guys a Horton Hears a Who craft to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day and Dr. Seuss’ Birthday!

Step 1:
Select grey colored craft paper for the elephant (Horton) and trace the template patterns on it. Cut out the traced patterns using scissors.
Step 2:
Attach the head (medium circle) and the feet cut outs with the body cut out (big circle).
Step 3:
Attach the ears and the trunk on their places to complete the elephant paper craft.
Step 4:
Grab pink quilling strips and prepare quilled lens shapes with the strips.
Step 5:
Cut out a small round paper from craft paper. This will be the base for the quilled flower.
Step 6:
One by one glue the quilled lens shapes on the small round cut out.
Step 7:
Continue to glue the quilled lens shapes on the small round base cut out until it is filled.
Step 8:
Attach a paper strip at the back side of the quilled flower for the stem. Glue the stem part of the quilled flower on the trunk of the elephant. Use black sharpie or maker pen to trace the eyes, and other details of the paper elephant.
A Person’s a Person
No matter how small.
Isn’t that such an amazing sentiment? I absolutely love it and isn’t Horton just adorable? It’s a great story and lesson to teach our kids and students. It’s no surprise that among many children’s books, the Horton Hears a Who book is a library favourite!
