How to Give Your Kitchen a Facelift

Give Your Kitchen a Facelift with the LG Black Stainless Steel Series & These Design Trends!

Give Your Kitchen a Facelift

It is said that there is no place like home and if you think about it, no matter where you roam, you only truly feel at home when you’re back in your own bed at home.

That is why we adorn and decorate our homes to our personal style and that definitely transcends into the heart of the home, the kitchen.

I had the chance to interview the renowned designer, Jane Lockhart and talk about upcoming trends, the LG Kitchen event in Toronto, and the new LG Kitchen in Black Stainless Steel Series

The design of a home kitchen needs to express your personal style but also be functional and tailored to your needs, right?

Read on for some tips and trends to give your kitchen a facelift you’ve been longing for.

Give Your Kitchen a Facelift with the LG Black Stainless Steel Series & Design Trends!

1. Invest in New Appliances

Let’s face it, getting new appliances can definitely change up the entire look of your kitchen. For example, LG’s newest appliances in black stainless steel are beautiful.

I love their sleek and stylish look and ability to seamlessly integrate into any space. So much so that I went out and went to play with them myself at an LG Kitchen Demo.

The series includes gorgeous French 3-Door and 4-Door fridge models where you can find the InstaView Door-in-Door.

You can peek inside the fridge without opening it simply by knocking twice. It immediately lights up and you can see inside without opening the fridge unless you want to.

Does it Make a Difference?

You save the cold air and your food stays fresher longer.

Then there is the LG Top Control Dishwasher with QuadWash with a height adjustable 3rd rack. Since it has four arms instead of two, it cleans from all angles.

It’s built to be quiet, and you can access it through your phone. Its full steel interior, good water movement, and 3 shelves make it an excellent pick.

Adding a water filter to your home is always a good bet. That way, you have fresh and clean water at all times. Big Berkey Water Filters has a wide array of choices that will suit your needs.

Of course, no kitchen is a kitchen without a stove and the LG gas range in black stainless steel does not disappoint.

It self-cleans within minutes and LG UltraHeat 18,500 BTU burners deliver every bit of the precision you love about gas with even more power.

So, forget about standing and waiting around for water to boil. The LG Over-the-Range microwave with Slide-Out ExtendaVent microwave is large, powerful, and has a vent that will catch all smoke and lingering smells by extending out.

LG is an innovator in the kitchen space — from design-centric features to functionality, LG has innovative, intuitive, and resource-saving appliances built around the way you live.

Best of all, all of these appliances are fingerprint and smudge-resistant.

To me, that adds to the overall clean and sleek design of a kitchen. Especially when the appliances do not have a smudge in sight! The appliances help to maintain clean lines, too, since countertops are getting flatter.

2. Think About Your Cabinetry Style

Cabinetry is starting to go dark. That means dark bottoms, light tops, or no upper cabinets at all. The trend for 2018 is a wonderful marriage of both light and dark.

Matching isn’t essential and I don’t know about you but, that is definitely refreshing. With the new LG appliances in black stainless steel, you’re going to want them to pop.

3. Update Your Cabinets

A great way to update your cabinets is to go DIY. You can update oak or golden cabinets by painting them. You can sand them down and choose a more neutral colour or go dark. It’s an inexpensive way to change the entire look of your kitchen.

4. Tame Cabinets with Paint

If you’re committed to your oak cabinets, tame them down with paint. Adding a chocolate brown to the walls can create sharp contrasts and really cleans up the space.

Even opting for painting the wall behind cabinetry in a deep charcoal makes oak look better.

5. Subway Tiles Are In

Yes, they’re back but, really, in my mind–they have never really gone out of style. But, Jane suggests that they make a great backdrop option that can enhance your other accessories such as mirrors, bathroom cabinets, and kitchen windows.

6. Update the Countertops

If you have cabinets you are already in love with but, the countertops can use a little updating, this is a great way to revamp your kitchen. Just consider the dark and light option and go for a countertop you’ll love.

7. Use Mixed Metals

An easy way to give your kitchen a facelift is to mix metals. Use warm metals with warm colours and cool metal with cool colours. Just keep it subtle!

8. Layer Your Lighting

Jane suggests that you use a three-part layering process. Ambient lighting is general lighting that helps you see in a space.

Task lighting is directed at an area like a counter in your kitchen to help you see what you’re doing, clearly, and Accent lighting is decorative, used to light an object like a piece of art.

Consider using recessed lighting for an overhead ambient light. Add under cabinet lighting to not only light your way during tasks but, to add a layer of light.

9. Pick a Backsplash

As mentioned above and in Jane’s 2017 Trend Report, subway tiles are in and here to stay. But, you can consider using other types of backsplashes.

For example, she suggests adding traditional antique-mirrored tile with a beveled edge for an elegant touch. Stack them for a contemporary take.

That’s what draws the eye making it perfect when you want to add a focal point.

Transform Your Space

Jane was in attendance at the #LGKitchen Event to sit down and talk to influencers all about design. She says that the new LG series is innovative and energy saving.

Having LG at home, she is already very impressed by the brand but, just as impressed with the new LG black stainless steel design.

Jane states that LG is innovative in the sense that they consider the evolving way people use their spaces.

They are similar to interior designers in the manner of how they consider how people are using their living spaces and helping them to maximize their space.

The LG black stainless steel series offers beautiful dark-tinted stainless and a satin-smooth finish for a modern design. No doubt! I recently painted my cabinets and would love to add these black stainless into my kitchen.
