How to Protect Yourself During Cold and Flu Season
Protect Yourself During Cold and Flu Season
It’s almost that time of year again. A time that all of us do not look forward to but, can’t avoid–the dreaded cold and flu season. For most, enduring the sniffles, aches and pains of the common cold is just a minor inconvenience.
Though catching the flu can be a lot more stressful.
Chances are, if you don’t take proactive steps to prevent it, you will catch it.
I am a huge advocate when it comes to prevention, keeping up good hand washing and more.
No one wants to get sick, right?
To help you stay healthy and win the war against germs this cold and flu season, here are a few tips that can help!
Stop the Spread of Germs
Germs often spread when someone touches a contaminated item and then touches any point of entry like their eyes, nose or mouth. When you are out and about, try to avoid touching your face with your hands as much as possible.
Always make sure you wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water.
Do this on a regular basis. Keep alcohol-based hand sanitizers in your purse and in your children’s backpack for added protection.
Disinfect Common Areas
It may be hard to believe but germs can stay on hard surfaces for hours or days after being contaminated. That is why it’s important to keep high traffic areas like countertops, doorknobs, sinks and faucets clean.
You’ll also want to be diligent in disinfecting telephones, remote controls, doorknobs and light switches.
I am a fan of disinfecting wipes. It is quick and easy!
Take Your Vitamins
To help your body get all the essential vitamins and nutrients to maintain good health, try Vitafusion™ Men’s or Women’s Complete Multivitamin.
Each formula is specifically designed to meet the needs of men or women.
Vitafusion Women’s includes calcium and vitamin D. Calcium helps keep bones strong and healthy. Vitafusion Men’s contains B vitamins to help convert food to energy.
L’il Critters™ Despicable Me Minion Made™ and Lil Critters™ Barbie™ Complete Multivitamin Gummies are a great way for kids to get a boost in their diet.

Skip the Gym
While endorphins do a body good, if you feel like you might be getting sick, skip your work out. While it may seem like a good idea to sweat it out, your body needs all of its extra resources to fend off whatever virus or bacteria you’ve been exposed to. It’s important to save energy.
Skip the Cocktails
While a cocktail may sound like a good idea, you should avoid drinking alcohol for a few days if you’re sick. Drinking large amounts of alcohol can affect your immune system.
Stepping back may help avoid coming down with something more serious.
Take In Fluids
When feeling ill, it’s important to stay hydrated. Plenty of water and fluids may help to minimize the duration and severity of a cold or flu.
If you have a fever, you may be sweating and you need to replenish fluids lost.
Also, it helps with your congestion if you keep your fluids up!
