Is it Time to Chase Your Career Dreams?
When it comes to your career, you may find that you always seem to be waiting. Waiting for that promotion, that next opportunity. Or still waiting for the pay rise. It can really make you feel as if you’re just not on track. That you’re not good at your job. That you’re not going to get anywhere. Maybe it’s time to chase your career dreams.
Having these thoughts are only going to hurt you. You’re focusing on what you don’t have. What you THINK you don’t have. You get stuck in a negative loop. When instead, when it comes to your career, you need to be in charge. In the driving seat.
In complete control of where you’re headed and when.
As you start to think about your career in the most positive way, you’re going to start to realize what you want. Exactly what you’re missing out on. You will begin to envision the dream career that you always wanted. Sometimes, this means that you need to make a career change or to make tweaks to your career right now. Or it means that you need to learn something brand new. Maybe it means that you need to change your way of thinking and how you act.
So if you’ve always had this budding career dream, read on for tips to help you chase it.
Knowing What You Want
So first of all, you’re going to want to make sure that you know what you want. Don’t just dream here. You have to dig deep. Think about what you need to do in your career to feel happy.
Breaking Down The Dream
But do more than that. You need to work out how you’re going to make it happen. Your dreams might be big and scary and you may be scared. Even so, don’t hold yourself back. Break it down into steps so that you can act on them. Sit down and work out how you get to where you want to be.
One thing that will always get you ahead is improving your education. You may not always have the qualifications that you need to be able to move into the dream job role or a new industry. Finding an affordable online MBA for Canadians can really be helpful. Or an overseas graduate degree for international students if it is more suitable for you. Research, find the course, look into it, and sign yourself up.
Surrounding yourself with a new group of likeminded people is always a good thing. It can help you meet the right people and to get new opportunities. Networking is key. Sure, it can definitely be terrifying. But if you just try, and put yourself out there, you will never believe what kind of opportunities will start to come your way.
Starting A Side Hustle
Start a side hustle. If you know that you want to move into a new industry, start working or offering services in your new field. Just get started, this could be the big break that you’ve been waiting for. Plus, you still have the security of your current job and you’re making extra cash!
Getting an Internship
There are some career pathways where you absolutely need to get an internship. It is essential to be able to break into the industry. It might mean you will work for free or work long hours, but you need to be able to put that work in to get to where you want to be.
Stepping Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Step out of your comfort zone. Attend an event or make a call or apply for an opportunity. It may scare you but, it’s a part of making your career dreams come true. Gotta hustle!
Knowing Where You’re Going
Be intentional about what you want to do. This means that you need to know what the end game is. That way, you can embark on a journey that you not only enjoy but helps you to get there.
Ticking Off Those Steps
Finally, you need to make sure that you are really following through. Always keep thinking of the next step. Like what you need to know or who you need to connect with or what else you need to learn. Then tick off each step as you accomplish them. The more proactive you can be, the closer you are going to get to those dreams and goals.
What is your dream career?
Let me know, til then–cheers m’deres!
