What to Know About Moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth
From Dallas to Fort Worth, there are an endless amount of things to do within the metropolitan area.
You can have that traditional Texas life or live something a little more city-like.
Both options are great in their own ways and if you are new to the area you will be sure to find your perfect blend of the two.
There is so much to learn and consider when heading to the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
So whether you are planning to live in downtown Dallas or browsing Arlington apartments, for example, you are sure to find a little corner for Texas that’s just right for you.
As the first steps, here are a few things to get you started on your new Lonestar life.
Taxes
This more so applies to those moving into the state. Opposed to lifelong residents but brushing up is never a bad thing.
First off, Texans do not pay state or local personal income taxes.
One more thing to make your dollar go further is great news for anyone.
Texas still taxes elsewhere, such as sales, which is 6.25%, and personal property taxes. The bad news about taxes is that Texans do pay some of the highest property taxes anywhere in the nation.
There will be variations on tax laws depending on exactly where you live in the DFW area so do keep that in mind when choosing where to settle down.
Especially if that’s something you consider extremely important.
State Fair of Texas
It’s held every year at the end of September and lasts for 24 days. The State Fair of Texas is a big deal locally so attending is a great way to get an idea of what the local culture is all about.
Within you’ll find the typical fair outings, such as rides, fried foods, games, and music all with that priceless Texas flair.
Its mission statement mentions promoting agriculture and education through community involvement in a family-friendly environment.
If you can, do try to pay it a visit when it’s in town. That way, you can get a great idea of what the area is all about and what values they hold close.
The Job Market
Regardless of where in the DFW area feels right for you, there are sure to be great professional opportunities.
In Dallas, there are major companies such as the AMR Corporation, Baylor Health Care System, and Texas Health Resources.
Those are just a few examples within the city but don’t think those are the only places for prosperity in the DFW area.
