Date Night: Plan Your Next Romantic Meal For Two
Date Night: Plan Your Next Romantic Meal For Two
Whether you’re trying to impress someone new in your life or just want to do something special for your spouse, nothing spells romance like a quiet, candlelit dinner for two.
You could take your special someone out for a meal, but there’s something extra special about doing it all yourself.
They’ll appreciate the thought and effort you put into the date more than simply settling the bill.
Here’s how to plan a romantic meal for two at home.
Decide On the Menu
First of all, what’s on the menu? Then, of course, the food will be the main event, and planning the perfect meal is your first step.
Try to pick foods that you know your partner loves, like their favourite pasta dish or casserole they’ve been begging you to make again.
If you’re still getting to know one another and unsure of what they might like, a steak dinner is always a safe bet.
If you want to make it extra special, you can research wagyu vs kobe beef and pick up an extra delicious cut.
Try to serve up a dessert to share after your meal. Of course, homemade is best, but nobody will turn down a scoop of ice cream from the store.
Perfect Scheduling
Next, you’ll need to plan the timing to be just right. If you want to surprise your partner, keep the date under wraps until the day.
If you live together, this is always a little harder.
Make sure you know their work schedule and double-check that they hadn’t planned anything else on the evening you want to spoil them.
Set the Scene
You’ll need to set up your table to look romantic and luxurious. Set out the nice cutlery and crockery, fold your napkins, and place some flowers or another centerpiece on the table.
You can also set your table according to a specific theme (perhaps to match the theme of your menu) if you’d like. Look for ideas online – you could do a shabby chic farm style table setting, or opt for an Italian bistro look if you’re serving pasta.
Don’t Neglect Atmosphere
Remember that ambiance and atmosphere are everything, especially when you’re going for a romantic setting for your dinner.
Make sure the place is spick and span before your date – you don’t want to be dining surrounded by your kid’s toys.
Light a few candles (unscented ones at the dinner table), string up fairy lights if you have any, and play some soft music in the background
Be Present
Finally, when your special someone arrives for your dinner date, make sure that all of your attention is on them and them alone.
That means putting away your phones, turning off the TV or other devices, and focusing on them.
