Well, that is exactly what you do when you are a Snackbox subscriber. Snacks are something that are a must when you’re a parent, simply because you have to keep your children’s little bodies fueled and YOURS too!
I am an avid label reader, for me, if it has more than 5 or 6 ingredients–it’s not snacks that I want my children to have. But, this can also be very time consuming and my kids get impatient when I stand in the snack aisle reading labels.
Snackbox helps you discover, learn about, and try healthy snack food products that you’ll love. Snackbox was created to help simplify the task of discovering innovative, new brands, and finding your new favourite snack. Every month, their holistic nutritionist and her team of experts carefully choose and curate the best snacks. They read and analyze all the labels, and most importantly, they taste test the snacks!
When you’re a member, you get to try 10 – 12 items in your Snackbox once a month. There’s combinations of sweet and savoury snacks to satisfy any craving! That way, once you’ve tried it before you bought it, shopping trips become a breeze because you already know what brands to choose. You can subscribe, here.
I think the price is pretty competitive as you receive decent sized samples of products. In the October box, there was full-size products and if you shop natural or organic, you know that it gets pricey. For about 12-15 organic snacks and a box full to the brim with goodies, you can’t beat this deal!
See It In Action!
Check out Gabby’s review as she unboxes the October Snackbox, remember to scroll down so you can enter to WIN this exact box! It’s hard to get kids to love what’s healthy for them but, if you get them involved–it makes a world of difference! She also wrote about it on her blog, here.
Munch and Crunch.
These organic roasted almonds that are seasoned with a hint of salt is the perfect snack. They are packed with healthy fats that will keep you satiated and have been known to reduce heart disease. But, they were absolutely delicious. Crunchy, salty and perfect as in between meals snacks.
The girls love munching on them anytime and I feel better that they are getting healthy fats that will keep them satisfied til meal time! You can find Skeet and Ike’s at Whole Foods and at other locations.
I think one of my own weaknesses is buttery popcorn, I am a clean eating convert and didn’t grow up in a home that had the power of knowledge that we do now. So crispy, salty treats were always a staple in our home. But, they weren’t always the greatest for you.
Snackbox sent Quinn’s Microwaveable Popcorn in Vermont Maple and Sea Salt and a bag of Terra Chips. We’ve had the Terra Chips before and they are delish, they not only provide the crunch of a potato chip but they give you a hint of sweetness and a full serving of veggies.
The Quinn Popcorn was a hit in this house, the girls especially loved adding the butter to the bag and shaking it up. I liked the fact that they don’t use GMO crops and you can actually see that the bags aren’t coated with chemicals.
The Back to Earth Weeds and Seeds Cereal is an interesting take on your morning meal. What I love the most is that is versatile and can be added to yogurt, oatmeal, shakes and salads.
It’s vegan, lactose-free, gluten/wheat free, high in fibre, calcium, iron, protein, antioxidants and phosphorus. This packs a mean punch and I loved it. Gabby and the girls will opt to have it mixed into their snacks and meals.
Bring On the Goodness!
These were the girls favorites, they love nuts, they love fruit and they definitely love chocolate. We’ve had Taste of Nature before, so they already loved that! It was FULL of Brazilian nuts and raisins and it was super chewy and packed with nutrition.
But, the VeggieGo Sweet Potato was new and they loved it. It’s a nice alternative to the high fructose corn syrup lathered fruit leathers and they loved the stickiness and tartness of it!
The Vega One bar, I split with Gabby and while I’m used to the taste she had to acquire it. She did love that it was double chocolate though!
The TCHO Choclate was my favorite and I didn’t want to share. OMG, I’ve tried many a dark chocolate in my day but, this has got to be one of my faves. It’s 70% cocoa and slavery free. This is one of my favorite finds in the Snackbox.
Bring on the Energy!
Although I don’t like energy drinks and Hubs is the only one that drinks them, the Runa Clean Energy drink was a pleasant surprise. I feel much better if Dara were to choose this in comparison to Red Bull.
He said that it was refreshing, the taste was great–almost like a berry iced tea. It wasn’t bitter and didn’t have an after taste. To know that it’s brewed from the Guayusa leaf is refreshing to me! I think Dara has found his new energy drink! Gabby tried a sip and she said it tasted good, though she definitely doesn’t need the extra energy.
