Why You Need to Visit Kodaikanal

The lush and beautiful city of Kodaikanal can be found within the state of Tamil Nadu in the country of India. The people that live there speak Tamil and the name of the city means “The Gift of the Forest” in that language.

Kodaikanal has long been a vacation destination, especially for couples. Ones who are looking for a little quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of their busy lives.

There are plenty of hotels in Kodaikanal for couples to stay at, but the favourites appear to be the Villa Retreat and The Carlton. The Villa Retreat is only a five-minute walk from hiking trails, shopping, restaurants, Kodaikanal Lake, and much more.

The accommodations are extraordinary. You can choose a room or a suite with a view of the garden from their window or a fabulous balcony to sit out on.

Immerse Yourself

Over at The Carlton, you will have views of the beautiful lake that is right on the property. The lake is the perfect spot for morning and late evening walks. You can even go out in one of the boats during the day for some time on the water.

There is so much for you to do during your time in Kodaikanal. One of the most romantic things is having a picnic lunch near one of the many waterfalls. There are many trails within Kodaikanal that lead directly to waterfalls. The most popular ones include the Kodai-Ooty Trail, the Kodai-Berijam Trail, and the Kodai-Munnar Trail.

While out on the trails, you may also want to see if some of the infamous spots like Dolphin Nose, La Saleth Church, or Mountain View Echo Rock are near any of the hotels in Kodaikanal that you choose. If these sites are close by, you will want to take the time to visit them all.

Another fabulous picnicking spot is Bryant Park, which is a botanical garden filled with plants and all kinds of flowers.  This park was created back in 1908 and there are twenty acres for couples to explore in their downtime in Kodaikanal.

This area is perfect for anyone who loves nature. You will want to miss your chance of hiking up the hills that lead to the Elephant Valley View. Of course, that also holds true for the potato farms, the pine forest, the pillar rocks, Coakers Walk, and this list could go on and on!
