6 Pet-Friendly Furniture Ideas For Your Home
Pet-Friendly Furniture Ideas For Your Home!
The pet industry celebrated a rather big milestone last year, with figures from the American Pets Products Association (APRA) showing that consumer spending in the pets sector surpassed $6 billion for the first time ever.
Despite our increased spending on our pets, it’s fair to say that when it comes to decorating our homes, a pet’s’ opinion isn’t the first thing that crosses our minds.
Retailers are changing that. The Swedish giant IKEA is leading the way with the release of the first-ever pet-friendly sofa in 2015.
Fast forward to 2017, and the range of choice of pet-friendly furniture has grown substantially. Pet pieces are now available that wouldn’t look out of place in a designer showroom.
To give you some inspiration on how to turn your home into a place of comfort for your pet, we’ve compiled a list of six items that you need to have in your home, below.
The Purrfect Bedside Table
The Kitty Home Condo is the ideal piece of furniture for anyone that struggles to be apart from their pet while they sleep. Made of Japanese cedar, the table comes with an inner compartment that can be converted into a private boudoir for your feline friend.

The Chair That Doubles As A Pet Shade Spot
With Summer in full swing, your pets are likely to be spending more time outdoors. It’s important they have a cool place to retreat to if things get a little too hot under the collar.
The “Rocking-2-gether Chair” – (their name, not mine!) – is the ideal place for this. Humans get a practical outdoor chair and pets a spot to cool down.

The Cat-Friendly Bookshelf
Cats and bookshelves are traditionally a disaster waiting to happen, with the former using them as a climbing frame rather than a literary resource. No more, with the modular bookshelf. Designed to give cats a safe way to climb to the top of your library, without bringing it all crashing down.

The Table Hutch
In general, hamster cages aren’t the most visually appealing pieces of furniture. The metal bars can resemble a prison, more than a place for your pet to call home. With a little bit of imagination, it’s not hard to turn an old set of draws into a palace fit for a king.
No old furniture lying around for your pet project? Visit a yard sale or check out what used furniture is available in your local area on a site like Gumtree.

The Cat-Climbing Frame
If you believe your cat is an Elizabethan Queen, what do you do? You build them an empire, of course! Cat shelves are a great way of encouraging your cat’s natural tendency to climb without them doing any damage to your home. With an ideal vantage point, they’ll be best placed to pounce on any encroaching threats to your kingdom.

It’s always nice when you get the chance to sit down as a family and enjoy breakfast or dinner together. Thanks to this ingenious alteration to the side of your kitchen island, pets will be able to join in the feeding fun as well.
