Blue Mountain Resort: It’s Bigger and Better with Snowboarding, Snowshoeing, Dining, Shopping and So Much More! #biggerblue
Blue Mountain Resort.
Bigger and Better.
Going to Blue Mountain during winter is absolutely a necessity. You need to make your way here sometime during the winter to indulge and take part in all of the winter activities, leisure and experience. Blue Mountain is a 4-season resort and there is always something to do, no mater what season.
For us, we have only visited during the winter and if you read about our stay at the Westin Trillium House at Blue Mountain, you’ll know that Blue Mountain is definitely special to us.
Especially my husband and I. It was our FIRST vacation together and it is where underneath the soft flakes of snow that fell upon us where we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. The crisp cold bit our fingers and the wind kissed our cheeks but, Blue Mountain could not have been any more perfect for this moment.
Sharing the Blue.
When we were invited to Blue Mountain for a couple of days of winter fun, we couldn’t have been happier. We were super anxious and excited to share the magic of Blue Mountain with our girls. There’s no shortage of things to see and do in the Village and there are fabulous places to shop, play and dine while you’re there.
There are about 23 stores and boutiques to shop at in the Village. When you’re not cutting up the slopes or playing a round of golf or just relaxing, stroll along the scenic streets of The Blue Mountain Village and participate in another of Canada’s great national pastimes – shopping.
Get the latest gear, update your wardrobe or find the perfect gift to bring home with you. Our favorite places to shop are Columbia, Columbia Kids and Village Memories.
Dining and Nightlife.
There is something for everybody at the Village, from pizza to Beaver Tails–you’ll find something! Another fun aspect that we took part in our last trip to Blue Mountain was the nightlife, after having taken in live outdoor music and outdoor competitions, we went dancing at the clubs! This time around, we didn’t boogy on the dance floor but, when you want to take in the entire experience of the Village, it’s there!
There’s something to satisfy every appetite in the Village’s eclectic and enticing cafés, restaurants, grills, pubs, lounges and bars. Enjoy the finest full-service dining or fast-and-fresh takeout, a casual après-golf beer or a sophisticated late-night martini. In the Village, you’re never more than a few steps away from an experience perfectly suited to your mood and desires.
Snowshoeing at Blue Mountain.
There’s absolutely nothing like breaking fresh snow and feeling the wind in your face as you hike through the woods. While at Blue Mountain, you can experience an off-resort tour of a winter wonderland with a guide leading you through amazing woodlands.
Snowshoes, transportation and a warm beverage included. The tour bus picked us up at the Village and we were off to the Kolapore Uplands.
Cheers to the Kolapore Uplands!
Dara and I explored the woodlands, heard the trees creak in the wind and listened to the fresh spring run through the frozen stones. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the surrounding areas and of the Kolapore Uplands.
I had a bit of difficulty with the snowshoes (should have used the kid-sized ones) but, we made the best of our tour. We ended it with deliciously hot apple cider and headed back to the Blue. You can get more information about on-site tours and off-site tours, here.
Get Out There and Shred!
We were able to get out there and get re-accustomed to boarding. It has been years for both Dara and I and our girls, it would be their first time. One of the coolest things that Blue Mountain offers is their private lessons. Dara, Gabby and I took advantage of the private lessons and we were able to re-learn and get used to boarding again.
See It In Action!
You can see our whole Blue Mountain experience in Gabby’s video. She sums up a bit of everything and shares it through her eyes. Well, our instructor Mark was absolutely AMAZING and patient, not to mention, he was very supportive and encouraging. We were able to go at our own pace and he was with us for a bit over and hour on the slopes.
One of things that has changed over the years is my sense of fear and adrenaline, I think after I became a mom–it changed. So, it took me longer to get out there and not be scared about wiping or the feeling of momentum. I was able to join Dara and Gabs while they boarded and took my time reaching my comfort level.
Burton’s Riglet Park.
While we were enjoying the slopes, Mimi was learning how to board over at Burton’s Riglet Park with my Mom. I wish I had stopped by to see her in full-gear and learning how to snow board. I would have loved to take pictures!
She actually cried because she didn’t want to leave Andrew and wanted to keep boarding. It is definitely a MUST if you visit Blue with little ones. They can board just like you and they’ll love it.
Blue Mountain offers lessons for little ones from the age of 2 and up to get on a board and shred! You can set up private lessons or sign-up for daily camps or programs, here.
Bigger and Better at Blue!
If you’ve held on with me up until here, you rock! It was an absolutely amazing experience and I never leave Blue Mountain disappointed. In fact, I leave with an immediate longing to turn the car around and go back! Pictured above is me after a few hours on the slopes. Sweaty, tired, a bit sore but, very happy!
We ended a full-day with a walk through the Village, a bit of shopping, a delectable dinner at Firehall Pizza Co. and then pure relaxation at the Westin Trillium House. We had a nice warm rain forest shower then headed to the outdoor spas and sauna. Perfect way to wind down after an eventful day.
Blue Mountain Resort is by far spectacular. It’s perfect for all ages, whether you’re single, coming with family and even if you’re over 50. My mother absolutely enjoyed the Village, the dining, outdoor spas and spectating. While Dara, Gabs and I enjoyed the outdoor activities, even Mimi got into the action.
One thing I will say is that we observed that the staff at Blue are happy, friendly, helpful and always doing something. They were always willing to lend a hand, give directions or provide supreme service. It must be all the endorphins but, seriously, we truly enjoyed our stay.
Next, I will show you all the tasty and delightful food that we indulged in at Blue Mountain. There is just too much tantalizing pictures, it warranted a post of its own. Also, stay tuned for our trip to Scandinave Spa coming your way!

There is a lot to do besides that, nothing like skating in the Mill Pond or relaxing in the spa.
How fun! I went snowshoeing a few weeks ago in Colorado. This sounds like a great resort for the entire family…I may just have to convince my boyfriend we need to go there!

I have never done any kind of snow sports. I'm a total cold wimp and was born and raised in central FL. But the pics you shared of Blue Mountain Resort are gorgeous! Might have to think about a winter vacation next year.
I think if you are not used to it, a day or two would do just fine. Get a little taste and then head back to beautiful FL. 🙂
What a beautiful resort. I have never been on a snowboard, not sure I am ready for it!
I have not done it in years and did not do as bad as I would have thought. It is a lot of fun!
