Disney FROZEN DVD.
It’s HERE.

Yes, this is one movie that we have long-awaited to arrive on DVD. We received a copy this last week to review and of course, it has been watched a good two times a day ever since. This is one movie that I don’t mind at all and I actually LOVE to watch, no matter how many times I watch it. We are huge Frozen fans, so big that we just threw a Frozen themed Disney Side @Home Celebration party.

About Disney Frozen:

Walt Disney Animation Studios presents a chilly twist on one of the most humorous and heartwarming stories ever told. “Disney Animation’s best since The Lion King” (William Bibbiani, CraveOnline) will melt your heart.

Fearless optimist Anna sets off on an epic journey — teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff and his loyal reindeer Sven — to find her sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.

Bring home Frozen on Blu-ray High Definition — featuring a blizzard of never-before-seen bonus extras with gorgeous animation, memorable characters and unforgettable music. It’s dazzling fun for the whole family!

elsa

The Snow Queen.

I am in love with how they chose to portray Elsa, the Snow Queen in this movie. Rather than Elsa being a villain, they show her in a much more naive and fearful Queen who ends up finding herself along the way.

In fact, I adore the entire story because while it has  all the traditional and favorite things you love about Disney tales, it has a beautiful twist. Having two girls and having a sister who is my best friend, I can truly, truly appreciate the bond that they illustrate in this movie.

The whole true love motif is diverted to a much deeper, truer and authentic kind of love. While having a Prince Charming come to the rescue can be romantic, they prove that the bond of family runs deep and that you can find true love in the most unsuspecting places and in the most unsuspecting people.

You’ll also recognize many famous faces…or should I say, voices in this movie too! Kristen Bell as Anna, the WICKEDLY talented, Adela Dazeem…err I mean, the beautiful Idina Menzel as Elsa, Jonathan Groff as mountain man Kristoff, Josh Gad as the lovable snowman Olaf (how I love him), Santino Fontana as Hans, Alan Tudyk as the Duke of Weselton, Ciarán Hinds as Pabbie and Chris Williams as Oaken.

Positivity and Classic Music.

Anna, Elsa’s younger sister is ever-positive and optimistic in life. She may be naive but, she knows how to handle herself.  Of course all the characters he encounters like Kristoff, Sven and Olaf make this movie funny, adventurous and the phenomenon it is. My utmost favorite character is Olaf and if I ever could wish for a companion, it’d be him. I wish he real because he is so gosh darn cute.

You can’t forget the epic song, “Let It Go” and in fact, I am so happy Disney brought the music back to Disney. This reminds me of the Golden Age of Disney where I was very spoiled with The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. I love the music and I had been missing this aspect in Disney movies for a while.

DVD Features:

Get a Horse”, a brand new Mickey Mouse cartoon that played before Frozen in theaters, runs 6 minutes.  It recreates the bouncy, animation style of the ‘30s cartoons but, puts a twist on things after about two minutes by kicking Mickey out of the screen to render him in more realistic CG. It is super cute.

The Making of Frozen runs about 3 minutes and it is a musical that features the voice talent of the movie. It’s cute, quirky and the kids love it.

“Let It Go” Videos. If you love FROZEN as much as we do, you must love Let It Go and sing it incessantly, all day long. Wait, what? It’s not the same in your house? Well, you’re in luck because they have a few videos of the song and in different languages!

Deleted Scenes. We loved some of the deleted scenes, like the introduction of Sven and seeing Elsa as a villain. Some, we were happy that were cute. It’s a great peek into the making of Frozen, we wish there was more!
