How To Increase the Feel-Good Factors in Your Home

Mother and child in kitchen, touch foreheads, they're very happy. Making your home pretty will help to increase the feel-good factors in your home.

How To Increase the Feel-Good Factors in Your Home

The key to a happy and content life is to increase the feel-good factors in every way. Also, it is a lot about how you’re feeling upstairs. Not in the house, of course, but what’s going on in your mind. If everything is clear in your brain, you then feel as though you can do anything.

Your confidence (or lack of worries) can really change the course of your day, week, month, or year.

It’s that important.

How can we boost that aspect of our lives and put ourselves well and truly into the perfect headspace? Well, there is a multitude of ways to do it. Exercise, socializing, and meditation are all good examples.

Another huge part of your life is your home, however. If everything is going well domestically, then everything outside feels like a breeze. If you can get that fundamental part of your life sorted, you can tackle most challenges head-on!

How Do You Do It?

Making your home a more beautiful environment overall requires a few things. But making sure it has that feel-good factor is a big part of it.

If your home provides you with that overriding sense of contentment, then you have that necessary foundation to work with. All of the other parts that need fixing can be handled a lot quicker and easier.

How do we shake up our homes and bringing in that oh so coveted feel-good factor, though?

Well, every single person on the planet has a different way of seeing things.

Nothing is set in stone.

Fortunately, we do have a few similarities.

Let’s quickly go through a bunch of ways you can lighten the mood, increase the feel-good factors in your home, and get everything moving in the right direction.

First Impressions Are Key

We’ll start with something that’s pretty important in a lot of life’s aspects: the first impressions. When you’ve just returned from work, what do you want to arrive to?

I bet your answer is along the lines of ‘something pleasant’.

First impressions or your immediate feeling about something can determine your mood for the rest of the day.

The driveway might need to be cleaned up a little. If it’s dirty or looking a little worse for wear, then perhaps you should take some time out to sweep or pressure wash it.

You might be surprised at how different it can look after. The front door signifies a lot in terms of a first impression, so surely you’re going to want to make it as welcoming as possible, right?

Even if it’s just for you to approach every single day. If your front door is glowing and looking excited to house people, then that’s only going to make people more positive.

Positive Colour Scheme

We’re not suggesting that you turn your home into a box of skittles, but brighter and happier colours could make a big difference. Imagine being around beige, tan, or black all of the time.

Apologies if you really like these plain colours, but if you’re feeling a little dour, then the boring scheme might add fuel to the fire. Believe me, I like these colours myself but, I add pops of colour to liven it up.

Look online for inspiration. Google the best paint colours for walls. Check to see if there are any pretty options in terms of the wallpaper, too.

Declutter

Nobody likes clutter. It brings absolutely everyone down. Even if they don’t notice it at first, they’ll still feel as though something’s up.

Clutter gives off the impression that you’ve got a lot on your plate, and that you’re a little too sluggish to neaten things up.

If you just took an hour or so out of your day to tidy everything, then it could make a huge difference. Your home might not look like it’s had a complete makeover, but your mind will be much more at ease.

I always say, clean as you go, it makes life so much easier.

Keep Everything Running Perfectly

When you know you have a few faults with your house, it can weigh on your mind – even if they aren’t massive problems. We like to have everything functioning properly, don’t we?

Well, get in touch with the pros and have them fix a few things for you.

If you need a new boiler; look up how to get that handled. Do you have a few bugs that need exterminating? You know what to do.

These underlying issues that run around in our heads often have an (albeit small) effect on the rest of the things we do.

Make The Atmosphere Beautiful

The feel of the area and the freshness plays a big part in the overall happiness of the home and everyone in it.

If you have some candles, maybe lighting them every now and again could do some good.

Air fresheners that are set to go off every hour also do the trick. If you’re a fan of essential oils, maybe you could use them from time to time.

Keep Everything Spotless

Cleaning isn’t the most fun part of life, but if you want to have that happy home you deserve, your home is going to need to be kept in lovely condition.

If you don’t like the idea of doing a big clean all of the time, then you could organize certain times where you’ll do little bits and pieces.

Little and often is a great mantra for most things in life, and cleaning is one of them. If you really don’t have the time, or cannot be bothered, then there are always cleaning companies around that you could get in touch with.

Renovate

If you’ve got the funds, then completely renovating certain parts of your home could make everything much more pleasant. Everyone likes new, fresh things!

Every homeowner also likes their kitchens and bathrooms to be absolutely gorgeous. If you have the funds or can DIY it yourself, then you should seriously think about it.

Treat The Garden Like Sacred Land

Another way to increase the feel-good factors in your home is by focusing on a safe haven. Your garden may have been a place to wreak havoc when you were a youngster, but now it’s a place for chilling out and being completely blissful.

If a garden looks amazing, then it can have a massive effect on the rest of the home.
