Miami Beach: Take In The Beaches, Culture, Biscayne National Park–the Only Underwater Park in The Country and More. #travel

Downtown-Miami

Relax and Enjoy the Sun in Miami Beach

Take a break in Miami Beach, and you’re getting a pretty special holiday. The municipality is separate from the City of Miami proper, and consists of several barrier islands, located between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The neighbourhood of South Beach forms part of the commercial centre of South Florida, in an area that was largely constructed between 1923 and 1943. Added to this are whole waterside complexes, hotels, spas, and those all-important eating and drinking spots.

On the Beach

Take your pick of everything from boutique establishments to luxury resorts. Many Miami hotels are  situated within beach areas; as such, they are perfect if you want to have a grand beach vacation that is unlike any other. Whether you go for South Beach, or its fast-growing neighbour, North Beach’s Ocean Terrace with its own seafront hotels and cafés, or one of the other beaches along its twelve-mile length, you’ll be right in the action, day or night. Nature reserves, family-friendly sections and hot nightspots give holiday-makers the choice that they need for a perfect vacation.

Dive In!

Your proximity to the seashore means that you’ll be able to test your abilities in snorkelling, diving, kayaking or canoeing, or to have a go at windsurfing or stand-up paddle boarding. Visit Biscayne National Park, the only underwater park in the country, for a glass-bottom boat tour that will reveal the wonders of marine life, including corals.

Art Deco Gems

The historic Art Deco District contains more of this style than anywhere else in the world. Much was designed as apartments, or as arguably the biggest number of boutique hotels in the US. Discover the pastel shades, porthole windows and nautical symbols, before getting clued up on its history at the Art Deco Welcome Centre.

Explore

The past isn’t the whole picture, though. Little Havana, as its name suggests, has a distinctly Latin flavour, acquired when Cuban exiles colonised the district, and you can still see cigars being hand rolled. Culture of all kinds is strongly represented by ballet, opera, concerts and art shows, and you can get in tune with your tropical surroundings at zoos, aquariums and botanic gardens.

A stay at Miami Beach will leave you with memories of more than just a beach experience. This stunning stretch of coastline is unique in being able to offer culture, history and recreation to its visitors. Stay beachside, and you’ll be ideally placed to take advantage of it all.

We are headed to Miami very soon and we are looking forward to visiting the beaches, taking in the culture and getting to know Miami a lot better. Especially, we are going to be taking in the cuisine and exploring a lot of foodie gems.

Have you ever visited Miami, if so, what did you think?

Let me know, til then–cheers m’deres!
