Why You Need to Stay at Motorcity Casino Hotel!
Something we can all agree on is that unplugging, getting away from the busy bustle of life and having a good time is absolutely necessary. When you think about escaping the stresses of life, you want to head somewhere that has it all. So when you are in Detroit or just across the border in Canada, these are the reasons why you need to stay at the Motorcity Casino hotel.
We had the chance to getaway from parenthood for a little while to enjoy some good food, gaming, decadence and to reconnect as a couple. After all, getting away from it all is good for your health, right?
1. You’re Feeling Lucky.
Heck, one of the main reasons you want to go to a casino is to try a little bit of your luck. Whether you are a novice or pro, it can be fun. I’m not much of a gambler but, I do enjoy trying my luck at the slots and Dara enjoys blackjack. MCC has slot and video poker, table games like Craps and Roulette and more. If poker is your thing, they have a Poker Room where you can play 7-Card Stud, Omaha Hi-Lo and Texas Hold’em.
2. The Hotel Rooms Are Ridiculous.
Motorcity has various types of hotel rooms available and they all have a high level of awesomeness. I am not joking either. Staying in one of their rooms or suites is like a vacation on its own. We had the opportunity to stay in a Premium Suite and as soon as you walk in, you’ll notice a living room with TV and comfortable sofas. A desk to work or check on emails or not.
You’ll also find a fully equipped kitchenette with a coffee maker and a pretty sweet Mini Bar. In-room coffee maker featuring Starbucks coffee. The dining area is right next to it. It’s perfect if you pick up some grub downstairs at open of their many options or if you are having some leftovers.
3. You Need a Good Night’s Rest.
The rooms are covered in gorgeous daylight during the day and when the sun goes down, you can see a world of tiny lights. The floor to ceiling windows give you that unique perspective and if you’ve had enough of the view, all you need to do is click a button. The electrical blinds will drape you in complete darkness and you’re ready to lay your head on the soft pillows and amazing beds!
The bedroom has its own TV and an iHome dock to charge your device or set the mood with your tunes and playlists. The King-sized bed is perfect to have your own space, the 300-thread count sheets are perfection and the pillows are just right. After a night of gaming, whether you’ve won or lost–you’re ready for that uninterrupted sleep.
4. When a Spa-Day Is In Order.
MCC has an absolutely gorgeous spa, 13, 000 feet of pure indulgence. DTour Spa offers thermal whirlpools, large steam rooms, dry saunas and Rain shower facilities. They have 10 private treatment rooms with a specialized selection of massage and body treatments. I have had a mani/pedi at DTour and they were incredible! If you’re all about body, mind and soul and have an absolute need to work-out, there’s a gym at your disposal too!
5. There’s Spa-like Bathrooms.
While DTour is there for all your spa needs, well, you have your very own spa right in your room. It doesn’t matter what type of room you have, they are all fabulous. Ours was perfect for us to use as a couple since it is big enough and has a private washroom too. Of course the modern vanity is perfectly stocked with DTour toiletries that smell amazing!
The marble washroom has a deep and large whirpool tub with massaging jets with DTour bath salts at the ready. Perfect for two to relax and just enjoy good conversation or to watch a movie or your favorite show in the bathroom mirror. Yes, you read that right! TV in the bathroom mirror with a perfect view from the tub–you really cannot go wrong.
The shower is an absolute must. If you like the feeling of falling rain, you’ll love this rainfall shower. Not to mention, it has massaging jets and again, it’s perfect for two since there are two shower heads and a lot of space. One person can enjoy the jets while the other one enjoys the shower on the other side. Then switch! You get the idea! The shower was one of my favorite things about my stay and I’m still dreaming about it now.
6. It’s a Foodie’s Paradise.
No matter what type of food you like, there is something at MCC that will pique your interest. There are a lot of options that can fit any taste or budget. We’ve dined at the Assembly Line Buffet many times and we loved it! They have both American and International cuisine and freshly rolled sushi, choice cuts of meat and create-your-own dessert.
Craving a greasy spoon style diner? Go to The Lodge Diner! If you want some delicious sandwiches, the Grand River Deli and Burgers has you covered. Your choices: corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, fresh salads, and homemade soups, breads, and sides. There is also a Sweet Ride if you have a sweet tooth and Little Caesars for a slice of pizza!
We were looking for a foodie’s dream and booked a table at Iridescence for two. The sous-chef was amazing, the service stellar and the food…to die for! You will have to read all about it in my Iridescence feature.
7. You Want to Be Entertained!
If you are looking for a place to go dancing, listen to good moods or even catch a live performance–MCC has got it taken care of. Sound Board is an incredible venue, intimate and there’s no bad seat in the house! We’ve watched Brian McKnight and many a Red Wings game here and we loved it! At the Chromatics Lounge there are new artists that perform every day and best of all–it’s FREE entertainment. At the Radio Bar, you’ll hear the bump of the hottest Detroit DJ’s that are sure to make you move. Simply put, there is no dull moment and there is plenty to do!
Recharged and Ready to Go!
After a relaxing, indulgent and incredibly fun night away–we were ready to head back to the grind. If you are in Michigan, this is a great place to stay and play. If you’re close enough to drive in from Canada, it makes for the perfect getaway. Wehter it a girls night away, a couples getaway or even to watch a Red Wings games with the family (kids are welcome, just not in the gaming areas), it is worth it!
