At one point, you may have read about some quirky ways to improve your health. Maybe your friend gave you a book to read. It could be you found a video in the deepest recesses of YouTube and wondered what the heck you’d gotten into.

Well, there may actually be some truth in these weird, ‘new-age’ ways to improve your health.

While some conditions, of course, need medicine and regular appointments, there’s no harm in trying alternative methods.

Read on to discover new-age ways you could improve your health, you may like some of them!

1. MEDITATE

Many people get bored when they try to meditate, or they find it so difficult that they just give up.

However, there’s a reason it has become such a buzzword. It can make a real change in the lives of the people who do it!

Meditation can clear the mind, offering more clarity and creativity. It can also help to relieve certain ailments and pain.

Use an app if you know you’ll struggle, or try guided meditations on YouTube. You only need to do a few minutes a day to begin with. Then you can build yourself up when you feel ready.

2. Use Crystals

Crystals are natural stones found in the earth, and there are many of them out there with various properties.

Some people like to meditate holding them or with them in their laps, while others like to keep them by their bedside or even in their bags/pockets.

To find the right crystal for you, you may like to go to a store and see which ones call out to you. Usually, the ones you are drawn to are the ones you need.

However, you may also like to look at the properties beforehand.

It just means you need to find a balance that works for you.

Try blessing your food before you eat it and saying thank you, too! You don’t have to be religious to do this, either.

4. Try Healthy Supplements 

Supplements will never be a substitute for a healthy diet. There are a few out there that you may find assist you in your quest for healthy living.

B12 can be essential if you choose to eat a vegan diet, for example, and will make a big difference to your energy levels.

5. Watch Your Water

Make sure you’re drinking at least 2 litres of water per day. This water should ideally come from a filter, rather than a tap or a bottle.

You can look at Berkey test results to get an idea of what you’re looking for.

You could even put your water in a crystal bottle – not only is this supposed to infuse your water with the energy of the crystals, but it also encourages you to drink because it looks pretty.

6. Affirmations

Use affirmations every day, and change your story as it crops up. For example, if you catch yourself talking about (to others or in your own head) about how sick you are, change it.

Tell yourself how your body is healing. Feel positive feelings as you say it.

You’re not ‘kidding’ yourself, you’re simply working on a new mindset and a new story. Eventually, this should rewire your brain and make a huge difference in your life.

7. EFT

EFT, called the Emotional Freedom Technique (and sometimes just ‘tapping), is a great way to further work on rewiring your brain.

It is designed to get rid of your old beliefs and replace them with new ones.

It can work for anxiety in moments and can help with long-term problems, too.

8. Read More

There are so many amazing books out there that can help you to improve your wellbeing. Ones like Louise Hay’s ‘You Can Heal Your Life’.

Read these books for a new perspective on any condition you have.

It can feel like a lot to take in at first, but you may find some truth in it.

9. Walk in the Woods

If you can walk in the woods, do it as often as you can.

You need natural light, and trees are great, too.

According to Japanese research, the benefits of spending time in natural outdoor surroundings are linked to lower levels of cortisol, slower heart rates, lower blood pressure and increased feelings of relaxation.

With regular walks in the woods, you might just notice how much better you feel.

10. Use Essential Oils

Using essential oils at home has numerous benefits. Scents like orange oil can uplift you, as well as make your home smell wonderful.

They aren’t medicine, but they can definitely help you to improve your well being.

Adding houseplants and listening to nature music will also be a good substitute for those nature walks if you can’t make it outside for whatever reason.

Houseplants are good for our health because they help clean the air, filtering out harmful chemicals like benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and toluene.

Plants that are great for this include Snake Plants and Peace Lilies.

11. Be More honest and authentic

Put simply – don’t lie. Aim to be the truest, most honest version of yourself. The average person tells 11 lies per week.

While you may think that a white lie won’t hurt, it can actually hurt you!

You may be trying to save somebody else’s feelings at the risk of hurting your own. Lying could lead to headaches, sore throats, and feeling stressed.
