5 Kitchen Design Ideas for 2020

One of the most important rooms in the home is the kitchen. It’s the space that people occupy when they want to be social and it’s the space that the magic happens.

Majesty in cooking begins and ends here, and it’s all about creating a functional and practical space.

When you sell a house, the first place that people head to during a viewing is the kitchen.

They want to know where the oven is and if it’s a functional kitchen.

Kitchen design in 2020 is going to be all about improving on the space that you have with the right materials. Modern technology and a classic style smash together to create the best kitchen types.

You’ll need to consider the materials that you use for your cabinetry and kitchen island. Not to mention, you need to think about getting the right flooring contractor company to come in and redesign the floor space.

Wood is out for most people this year; it’s all about stone flooring and the perfect colour combinations.

With that in mind, let’s look at 5 kitchen design ideas for 2020.

1. Go Stone

We’ve talked about stone flooring coming back, but marble islands and cabinetry are also on the rise.

It makes for a luxury look and a next-level style without even trying. Marble is making its come back and you can get it in so many different colours and patterns today that there is no way that you can go wrong with the design choice.

Bringing marble back gives your kitchen the classy look that you’re going for – which is everything you need for a good sale or a beautiful space.

2. Opt for Ashes

For those who prefer wood cabinets and flooring, ash woods are back. Whitewood was always a thing of the 70s era and yet it’s enjoying its big comeback. Mine are currently white. I went from dark to white.

You can use subtle ash types, that are paler than oak or walnut. You can also use ash wood to really dig deep into the warm tones of the manmade stone.

2020 is the year for ash – don’t miss out!

3. Go Dark This Year

Black is most definitely back, and not as an accent colour, either. Black walls, black appliances and black cabinets are very much in for 2020.

You can really create a dark and dramatic look for your kitchen when you invest. It’s luxury personified and it’s inviting to look at, too.

4. Pops of Colour

You don’t have to go matchy-matchy for 2020. The rules are ripped up and mismatched is in. Pops of colour are in fashion again.

Think about mixing your colours for appliances, chairs, artwork and walls – you won’t regret it!

5. Add More to Your Island

Your kitchen islands should take up space, but what if you went for 2 this year? Double islands are for the larger, more open-plan kitchens.
