Design Tips for Forgotten Areas of the Home

When decorating the home, most of the attention will go to the main rooms of the house. Like the living room, dining room and bedrooms. This makes sense as it is where we spend most of our time at home.

For this reason, we often forget about the other areas of the home.

When you tastefully decorate these spaces it can make the whole house feel complete and much more stylish.

Here are a few of the forgotten about areas that are also worth decorating.

Porch

First impressions count for a lot so you should not overlook the importance of an attractive porch. There are many effective ways to decorate this area.

Painting the front door, replacing the door furniture, hanging baskets and even a small seat if space permits. This will improve the curb appeal of the property and make it a much more welcoming, attractive space.

Hallway

Once you enter through the front door, it is likely that you will then have a hallway.

For that reason, that also needs to be a space that is thoughtfully decorated.

Otherwise, the home can appear cold, unwelcoming and bland. Good hallway decoration will include artwork on the walls, lighting and a range of attractive hallway furniture.

This might include a console table, storage bench to keep the area clutter-free, coat racks and wall mirrors.

This can add personality to the space as well as make it somewhere practical where you can keep items like shoes, coats, umbrellas, keys, and other items neatly organized.

Utility Room

The utility room might not be somewhere that you spend a lot of time. It may be purely functional but this should still be a space that you feel comfortable in.

Simply painting the walls and having a rug/carpet down can make the space feel much warmer and more welcoming.

You should also have smart storage solutions in place so that this is always a space that is kept neat and tidy.

Bathroom

The bathroom is another space often overlooked but somewhere that needs to feel fresh, clean and bright.

Small decorative touches like fresh flowers, candles and a small table with magazines can make this a much nicer place.

The key is to keep the space clean at all times.

When you decorate these areas of the home, you are able to achieve a complete feel throughout the house. These areas are often overlooked but it can make a huge difference.
