Muppet Babies Are Back!

If you grew up in the 80’s or 90’s, you most likely enjoyed watching the Muppet Babies. Disney has begun production on a re-imagined “Muppet Babies” television series, which will air on March 23, 2018. It chronicles the playroom antics of the beloved Kermit the Frog, Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal and Miss Nanny.

I may age myself here but, I remember being so excited to get Happy Meals that included the Muppet Babies toys. Then I’d watch the show and come up with my own Muppet adventures. The show ran from 1984 to 1991 so, when I had the chance to sit in a session with Tom Warburton, the Muppet Babies producer at #DisneySMMC, I was over the moon.

The show is aimed for kids 2-7 years-old but, really it is great for everyone. Every episode features new music and songs and 16 are available on iTunes. There will be 22 episodes, all are a half hour.

Fun with a Great Message!

One of the things that we asked Warburton was what the series would be about. Would it be just their adventures or will there be lessons that will be taught? We were able to watch a whole episode of Muppet Babies and I can tell you that they are not only adorable and fun, the episodes will definitely teach your kids about everyday situations they will face.

The episode we watched was ‘Sir Kermit the Brave’ and it taught us about being brave and that not everything is what it seems.

Meet the Muppets!

Now, another exciting part of the reboot is the voice talent. Jenny Slate stars as the voice of the iconic Miss Nanny and like in the original, you won’t be seeing her face either. You will love the nursery, now in a New York brownstone with a huge backyard.

I am excited to introduce the Muppet Babies to my girls. I know my youngest would definitely get into it. Warburton is stoked that he is bringing a beloved show and introducing it to a new generation of kids and families.

Meet a New Muppet Friend!

Another awesome addition to the Muppet Babies is a new face. It’s Baby Summer, the super cute purple penguin. They wanted another girl in the playground to play alongside Baby Piggy. Warburton said that while they will have a great dynamic together, Piggy is still the queen of the playground. She’s creative, loves to draw, paint, and dance. She may be small but, she has a big heart.

The look on my daughter’s face when she saw Muppet Babies for the first time was priceless. It was almost a look of recognition but, a bit of confusion. Until I mentioned the Muppets, she knew right away. She’s a Gonzo fan and recognized him, Kermit and Miss Piggy.

She caught a sneak peek at an episode and she cannot wait to see the show. It airs on March 23, 2018 which is a day after her Birthday and she says that she will remember!

So, mark your calendars and tune in to the Muppet Babies!

Do you remember the Muppets?
